Dont care much for your opinion or responses, i was simply responding to turbosingh's comment in case he may not have known, to which he replied. As a Motorsport fan, if two cars line up head to head an go straight for 5 meters, to me its a drag race. Your attitude and responses as a NSO unoffical "rep" on this forum irritate me as a motorsport fan (not even a participant). So maybe your sarcasm an interest in goin into a STUPID discussion, or some how belittle how short of a distance it is to call it a "drag", can be attended to by someone of a similar immature nature.

Wait i do have an exception, your contributions in the aquarium thread is much appreciated tho, your experience an knowledge i can gain value from there

shucks.....
I would have liked to reply, but the scavengers disposing of yr
comments before I can use them :?
Wikipedia :
Drag racing is a competition in which specially-prepared automobiles or motorcycles compete two at a time to be the first to cross a set finish line, from a standing start, in a straight line, over a measured distance, most commonly ¼ mile (402 m).

.
so, maybe, before you decided to bash me, you could have checked if there were specialty events where 300 feet (or less) was indeed applied ???

i didnt bash you, but as usual you overly defensive, i jus gave my personal opinion. That is all, your input in any Autosport thread is never positive, an me an i dont even kno the guy to say im a fan.

Again i dont care for you explanation, i gave my point of view as regards to the use of the word Drag, but incase you missed it, it could be five meters, to me its a drag. But you want to be anal about the use of the word.

http://www.thefreedictionary.com
drag race
n.
A race between two cars to determine which can accelerate faster from a standstill.

http://mw1.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/drag%20racing
Definition of DRAG RACE

: an acceleration contest between vehicles

an yes there are 300 m drag races, lesser known in the states but popular in Malaysia on bikes, but what does that have to do with anything, really, who cares if is 300m, what does your question have to add to this discussion.
My seeming like bashin attitude is a product of your own lack of substance when contributing on these forums, so u reap what you sow.

In simple english
A drag race is a test of acceleration, from a standing start over a predetermined distance.
It can be one car against the clock or up to four cars as seen at the zMax Dragway at Concord, N.C
There are at least three NHRA recognised and sanctioned Drag Racing track lengths.

1320ft. - 1/4 mile
660ft. - 1/8 mile
1000ft.

On 2 July 2008, in response to the incident that claimed the life of Funny Car driver Scott Kalitta (June 21 2008), the NHRA shortened Top Fuel and Funny Car races to 1,000.0 feet (304.8 m) in order to give them more stopping distance at most tracks.

I think this is a great idea... A side by side "drag" into the first corner, then it's driver skills from there on.. The coolest part about this is, the high HP cars may not necessarily be the winner. Just imagine a 800hp Supra going up against MGman's "thing"- The Supra hold him down out the hole, all the way to the first corner, but "the thing" roast the popra in the corners to cross the finish line first.

A race like this is 50% car and 50% driver - Brilliant!

And this has been stated by several of our top drivers who have already submitted their entries.

This is not a Drag Race or a Solodex. It is a combination and the bottom line is it is a drivers challenge.

But Don Quixote is alive an well and well always LINK up to chase at imaginary windmills.

alternate sides first two, coin toss 3rd if it comes to that. "normal rules"

Drag racing rules,
Car with the fastest time from their previous run gets to choose the lane.
