that's what i do, and even when turning on. let the flexible parts get warmed up and gradually increase the volume/ and movement.

I have never bought a new sub so i never broken in any,but i was looking for a proper method of doing so, i think this was some good info, if you have not read it already:

always consider the power of your amp. Your amp should be matched to your sub not the other way around. Always remember that the most important spec is the program power(Watts RMS). Your amp must have a program power higher than this but lower than it's peak. If your amp is over powering then there are equations to find out how much gain would give you a certain amount of power. But for now beware of overpowering your sub or over-excursion due to a mismatch in amplifier to speaker specs.
