if you want to change gears, get a manual transmission :|

auto trannies are kinda funny and can be damaged after a while when you shift gears with moderate-high load on them

just keep in mind constant high revving with gear changes can cause excessive engine rod bearing and main bearing wear. i suggest if your doing it only do it if necessary not just cause your feeling wild. automatic tranny was made for ideal safe shifting. should be careful might cost you a head and block ad that's not cheap.

B16a is a high revving engine. It wouldnt damage anything, unless ur beating the limiter all day. I take my b16 to 8500 rpm once a day.

never said that. you all misunderstanding this statement. this was intended for the people who constantly trash engines at high rpm at every moment during driving an expect them to last or think a engine is unbreakable. bearing wear especially for engines 10-15 years old is a very real fact especially during cornering or aggressive cornering where the oil tend to shifts to one side. if you at every moment want to be a boy racer and red line your car constantly with your daily driver i can assure bearing issue after a period of time if not some other problem. stock bearings do not come with a lifetime warranty

Honestly though, what is the difference between "manually" shifting your auto trans from say d4-d3 or d3 to 2.. Essentially thats what it does in automatic mode anyway.. Even my F20B2 will kick down at anything more than half throttle...

The point i'm trying to make is, its not the driver shifting the gears that will cause an issue, but the only potential issue arises from not taking care of your trans fluid (and motor oil for that matter) and then expecting to run the trans hard..

Honestly, Honda didnt design these things to be so feeble that you can't rev it or kickdown etc, if they wanted to do that they would have set the rev limiter to under 5k... In the end, (as was mentioned earlier) if you not CONSTANTLY redlining the trans and your fluid (genuine honda ATF FTW) is in good shape, I don't see it being an issue at all..

Within limits, engine braking is your friend on an automatic as well

PS. My trans is now 15 years old and about 300,000km in, never had to do any work on it, change any seals etc.. Simply changed the fluid every 40,000km or so...
