^^^i myself was doubtful, but i thought i'd try it before i bash it. it did work, leaving minor streaks for the first couple of days then nothing... it worked well, but it's been washed out now and the wiper started wiping shiddy again...

oh, and i have a BSc in Chemistry so i don't know what's your point...

^^This is what I ues & it works wonders...sometimes @ 100km I don't even turn the wipers on. Yep its that good !



On the directions of the Armourall bottle It clearly states "do not use near clear plastic surface, glass, fabric,woven material or paint"

^^^i agree that repellent moves water better than wipers (at higher speeds, of course), but i have a problem with the wiper rubber drying out...
RainX works fine for me, but how would it help in washing the windshield of dust after the car's been parked?
if you have a solution for keeping the rubber soft and supple, then let me know...

what about silicone blades?
it doesnt react as fast as rubber to the elements

While on the verge of changing my 2 year old Michelins that were leaving water trails in light rain, I used some Mothers Protectant on the blades.

I've read through this entire thread and understand the reservations about this type of fix but it was a "hey why the heck not" moment.

The result? the blades wipe like new again, i kid you not.

The protectant left no "oily" residue on the blades after air drying subsequent to the application and is completely streak and residue free on the windshield, even in light sprinkles.

I've re-applied once a month since then (3 months ago) and have saved that $200 so far. If this keeps up, i won't be changing blades anytime soon.

^^^thinking of trying the same thing, though i'd prefer good blades that won't need that... but like u said, it's cost effective

AC DELCO curve teflon are really good 2 nahh really effin good sorry they are made of teflon not rubber so they last longer i sell them and not 1 single complain at all, d best customers ever see just ask people that have them and u will see!!

^^^just be careful with the long frameless wipers, they leave streaks at 24" (both Michelin and RainX that i've tried so far)

I have 26" on the volvo and it doesnt leave any streak marks and I have used Volvo/Valeo, Michelin and Bosch..

The Valeo was the best followed by the Bosch then the Michelin...
On the flipside the Michelin worked great on my Accord so I guess its hit or miss

To be honest, Michelin was always china thing made by Pylon.. Was never produced by Michelin themselves.

Even the most expensive Bosch Icon are made in China I think...

guys,

wipers worked well up to the other day when I washed the car with a different car wash than what I normaly use...

After that wash the wipers make a slight heavy noise and the windscreen is not too clean when the wipers are activated...Looks like some kinda residue on the windscreen......

any idea of how to clean the windscreen....?.....Polish maybe???

anyways bought Michelins to install to see if that helps cause one of my wipers seem to get a lil tear.........the rubber that is........

got an 18" michelin for $48.......the 22" are like arond $60.........

Is that a fair price?

smell, i had the Rain X latitudes (brought from Canada), and they're about the same as the Michelin Optimum's

i recently replaced with the Michelin Stealth and am very much impressed with them... at slow speeds at high speeds, they skip a bit on the way down, which is pretty annoying but liveable. need to Rain X the windshield though, it's been a while

How to clean wiper blades, how the pros do it , get a nylon scrub pad, scrungee, with rubbing alcohol and rub the edge of the rubber blade. Your blades will be just like new, won't streak.

I am using teh rain clear gel and cleanser. I agree with the fellow above, at 70 and above, i don't even have to use my wipers since the water just moves off with the wind. i actually use my wipers less now, and when I do use them, they work better since the cleanser properly cleans/cleaned the windshielf.

Show us a 2 year old Rainbox that wipes like new then you have a case.

I know you gonna jump on the cost factor. For most of us, less inconvenience, less frustration and time saved is worth the few dollars extra.

That said, if Rainbox works well for your application then, by all means, stick with it.

This is just an observation, but my friend had a pair of Moon on his car for 2 yrs and worked great till the end. He decided to switch them out for good measure about the same time I bought my car (approx 6 months ago). We both went Michelin, just not the frameless. After about three months the Michelins are working like mess.
Also, I bought a pair of rainbox wipers for the BT50 just over 3 months ago and still wipe like the first day. Note that on my car, which got the Michelin blades, I apply RainX every 2-3 weeks and the BT's windshield is covered in mud everyday and doesnt get the RainX. So, after three months of wiping heavy mud( sometimes after its been baked on) the Rainbox outlased the Michelins
