Prado is now $712K for the VX grade,
and there's the Hilux with cruise control and vehicle stability control with the 3.0 turbo diesel for $315K.

All Prados sold out till August and the VSC/CC Hilux till July.

Damn!

Does the Prado VX grade and Hilux have a sunroof yet?

Car sales on the rise again.

mostly the gov't buys prados and the shipments TTTL get are not in large quantities plus there are the odd private sales as well so demand > supply = price increase. The gov't believes the Prado is the epitome of what a govt office vehicle should be roaming all over the country day and night especially with people not employed by the govt as passengers. We see them in morning traffic and afternoon traffic which means they are probably taken home or being used as "company" vehicles. The numbers have been increasing since 2003.

You hit the nail on the head there! But that was the last administration, let's see if this one carries it on... They might not buy any soon, as they have the ones from the summit to use.

19 Prados from the Summit were auctioneered off earlier this year. They were brand new with a few doing less than 200km. All black and some with plastic on the seats.

Yessss. And judging by Suzuki's prices, the prices of the cars in Trinidad wouldn't be as disgusting as they are now, they would still be overpriced, just not as bad.

just go buy the skoda versions 50k less and the same dam vehicle

But Skoda does not offer the 1.4TSI motor. If they put that in the Octavia it would be a great buy. As I understand it too, the Jetta is not coming with the 1.4TSI again. Can anyone confirm this?

For now you have to go with the 2L Octavia but I also heard that they were going to stop bringing in that too....so you're just left with the 1.6 which is a bit too lazy for my taste and the more expensive 1.8T

LOL....when I did the test drive I asked the rep if there was something wrong with the vehicle. I think I did nearly the whole test drive with the x to the floor....was really disappointed....car had great interior, superb handling and drove great but I knew within a few days that engine would annoy the hell outta me.

The Octavia not all that bad man....75kW converted gives us 101HP  The torque is 148Nm peak. I think $179/180k for a slightly watered down Jetta is not bad. Consider the 200k price for the 1.6 Jetta without sunroof. :|

The 1.8TFSI is also available for 250k but somehow I aint any faster than my 1.4TFSI Jetta...I am yet to see an A4 1.8T keep up with my car

Lastly checking the web reveals the Octavia does come with the 1.4TSI engine but it is less powerfull than the Jetta equivalent. Its simply turbo and not twin charged (supercharger and turbocharger) as the Jetta.

Oh geez, people start back the US price comparison again

The FJ is a 4.0 engine, so the MVT would be high.

I'm just saying a FJ Cruiser is more targeted for a youthful market in the US, sell it here for more than half a million is rubbish. Plus the ones who can afford it would hardly buy it over a Fortuner, 4.0 gas engine is close to Hummerville

According to Toyota USA it starts at $25,790, in Australia $45,000= TT$300,000 it criminal to ask me to pay x2 or x3 the price.
(btw i think it is a wonderful retro design, if you expect swooping lines on a potential "Paramin taxi" you are asking that from the wrong vehicle.)

IMHO Euros are the best value for money, what my cousins pay for in England is the same I pay for 3500miles away. Yeah maintenance is more, but when bluetooth and 6 airbags are standard across the model, I get it in Trinidad, unlike my jap friends

no the fj was marketed to the "in style" retro cool crew while it is a capable offroader
it is useless on the road
real hard plastics inside very utilitarian like they were confused on who they were trying to see it too

Yup, it's a utility vehicle. The floor is a plastic mat so it can be wiped or washed out. It's a vehicle if you have $ to waste, good to go Maracas on a weekend and show off

acesinghit I test drove the 2L Octavia and that was the one for me @ $206K....but the rep said it would no longer be offered. The 1.4 twincharged would make a great motor for the Octavia but maybe VW does not want the competition with the Jetta.

BTW anyone has an idea of the cost of an A3 with the 1.8T???

The 1.4TSI Jetta has been sold out & we only have the 1.6 in stock to last us until the NEW 2011 JETTA arrives in sept/oct 2011.
When that car lands, the only engine option available would be the same 1.4TSI (SuperTurboCharged 160hp)! Should be priced around $235k.
