besides chlorine and chloramine, there are tons of other dissolved solids in tap water that we get. It may be ok to use it in the short run but keep yr eye on getting a rodi. I used tap water with a dechlorinator in the begining and had some algae issues.

It may work for a fish only for a while, definitely dont use with coral.

Something I got in Chai's last weekend. I don't think I'll use him to breed, he looks like a finished product and too many mixed genes to deal with. I got him cuz he's purdy

Oh, I also had 4 deaths in the last three weeks. All were fighters in those small aquariums.
They weren't new fish either. I'll have to blame the water. I just let the water age and air out before I use it, and I change the water in each container sometimes twice a week according to the condition. I don't entirely change, I replace about 40-50%.
I'm guessing the bigger aquariums are safe because of the flora.

Soooooo I'm lookin at a ro/di unit now. I'm sure it was mentioned before, but should I look locally? or get something suggested in the last two pages?

That sounding cheap though. What dimensions and glass thickness?

1/4 inch should be fine for a 4 ft.

anything bigger should be 3/8inch then 1/2 inch

So I'm torn between putting 3 Oscars OR many neon zebras in the 4 feet.
What kind of fish can live with the zebras?

Ok great....I know where I can find the driftwood. Is it necessary to put in live plants or any plastic ones will do?

what kind of power filter would you recommend?

live plants is the beauty boss. dont put goldfish or other fish that will dig up the sand. make it real.......... like how a riverbed will look. dont go putting no castle and ship and treasure chest or other crap. put schooling fish. buy 1 or 2 hang-on filters that can take the load
