AC Leak Inside the Car

Postby carsearch2011 » May 6th, 2011, 2:54 pm

Whenever I use the AC, especially for long periods, i get a lot of moisture under car mats at both he passenger and driver's side. The two mechanics I've taken the car to however cannot find where the drain hoses are. Found one but there must be others because under the car mats still keep getting wet when I use the AC. It's a 1997 Hyundai Elantra if that helps...

The evaporator needs to pe replaced as hte person further up suggested, the casing is cracked.....is there any way this could be fixed instead of replaced? The heater lines were closed off already...is that dangerous to do?

the system i s a high pressure system, so if the evaporator is fixed it will still be a weak point vulnerable to further gas leaks. better u change it. the heater lines are what the name says. is not a problem if its capped of, its jus that you wont get warm air when u raise the temperature control. warm air not necessary in a hot country like this one.

just want to know do you get mould build ups around the mats,as this is a common problem, the last few cars we checked with this problem was just due to a hose which got busted or just fell out of place.

no pal. ur evaporator does not need replacing, its jus the box (blower assembly) which needs REPAIRS. ur evaporator naturally 'sweats' resulting in the condensate (water) which u getting in the car. there is a drain hose which drains the water outside. but if ur casing cracked, no biggie. find it an its jus as easy as putting a piece of flash band on it, or silicone, whichever works for u. an u can put some paint on it to hide it up :)
