B16a Refurbishment questions

Postby Halfbreed07 » March 28th, 2011, 5:14 pm

Hey Honda gurus, I have a b16a in my '97 ek4 4 door doing around 170,000, as far as i know its shows no sign of anything being wrong with it. I have decided to keep this car as a project of sorts and as a result i would like to do some preventative maintenance on the engine/drive train. My question is what should i do as a matter of priority and what kind of financial 'investment' can i expect to put out.
i have changed the ac belt and the power steering belt when i bought it about 7 months ago.

thanks

My B16a doing 240,000Km,
Engine works great and swinging vtec normal,
I experience oil burn after 3000k,which is ok.

As part of my preventative maintenance,I changed all hoses and pcv valves with OEM Honda.
Recently changed the radiator to a Koyo (not ah shittymoto)

In the near future,I'll change out the o2 sensors before
doing the rebuild project (at year end or next year depending).I would like to keep the engine close to stock.

Recently purchased the following book, great info:

so you're saying if its not broken at 175,000km don't fix it?
how bout piston seals/rings, decarbonizing and port and polish and all that jazz?
they not really need right now you think?
just asking for further clarification.

With that kind of mileage both of you guys should change your timing belts, you don't want that bursting and destroying your engines.
