WTK : Gas mileage

Postby FASTec » March 19th, 2011, 4:21 pm

At present I am getting 420K's on a tank of gas ($100). Is there any thing I can do to get more mileage on a tank of gas?

What kind of car?

(Buy a toyota & use redline fuel system cleaner or Prestone fuel injector cleaner with octane boost)

I agree with this except the toyota part. I get 520km on $100 super in a QG15.

fastec, assuming u runnin Super, u gettin about 11 kms / liter, which is not bad
however without details on driving conditions, it's hard to advise
My AE111 corolla averages 11 - 12 kms / liter in mixed, mostly traffic driving
On long journeys / highway, I get as much as 13kms / liter, with a smooth, relaxed driving style: no hard acceleration, maintaining 80kph on highways etc
Only 'mod' on the engine is a K&N drop in filter

the corolla gave me 560kms from $110 super, including a few highway runs plus a drive from curepe to manzan via princes town
All smooth, relaxed driving....typically gentle acceleration, maintaining around 2,000 rpms

hmm.....dunno
what tyre pressures u runnin?
I tend to be religious with things like cleaning the air filter, oil changes etc
on a stock engine, every bit adds up
u have all your stone shields in place?

stone shields help with the aerodynamics, but still............dunno, maybe the corolla more fuel efficient
the MINI is a 1.6 just like the corolla but I typically get 10 km / liter
I might see high 11s if I drive like a real granny......granted I drive with the windows down...
I also run premium in the MINI
my old Mazda B1600 gets 8-9km / liter

Do you have bigger than stock rims? If you do you may be getting better mileage than you know, and for a ga15 that's terrible.

Daily driver, vrg galant, gdi 620-640km per tank, with ac and running around 110-120km on the h/way and city driving. Damn $4 a litre for premium though :(

Use this to calculate your new rolling diameter.

Then calculate the new mileage covered.

luckily I sold my galant before the price increase......a couple times I was able to squeeze a tad over 700km from the tank....usually got about that same figure as you.....pretty economical motor when taken care of well.....

Still trying to get that 700km from a tank but that damn galant hates 80km/h on the h/way and the town traffic doesn't help either.
