Well resale value for Evo X just gone up. But this is similar to other Japanese companies.....green is in ... just look at Honda CR-Z....hybrid drivetrain instead of screaming gasoline unit. We're gonna start seeing the death of many of our beloved performance models.

To add insult to injury.

ARC Japan is in some form of bankruptcy.

ARC International, the well-known premium Japanese manufacturer, is in bankruptcy. We were notified just a few hours ago, the company is no longer accepting orders and all outstanding orders are cancelled.

The future of the company is currently uncertain. We will keep the website updated as any changes develop but we do not expect any change to the situation in the immediate future.

We are truly saddened by the news and wish ARC the best in the future. Their range of premium quality parts made in Japan will be missed by us all.

OMG this is so stupid

I don't think people will like a Hybrid Evo  idk where this guy came out with that idea of killing the Evo and introducing hybrids. Maybe it's just a marketing ploy :P :D

As much as we like conventional power for our sports cars there is hope guys. For 1 an electric/gas hybrid has the advantage of high torque from the start courtesy the electric motor. Honda's IMA to me is one of the best applications, can utilise a standard drivetrain layout with electric assist. Just consider the following:

"Audi presents the highlight of the IAA 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show: the e-tron, a high-performance sports car with a purely electric drive system. Four motors – two each at the front and rear axles – drive the wheels, making the concept car a true quattro.
Producing 230 kW (313 hp) and 4,500 Nm (3,319.03 lb-ft) of torque, the two-seater accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0 – 62.14 mph) in 4.8 seconds, and from 60 to 120 km/h (37.28 – 74.56 mph) in 4.1 seconds. The lithium-ion battery provides a truly useable energy content of 42.4 kilowatt hours to enable a range of approximately 248 kilometers."

Of course limitations with the Audi is range and probably weight but eliminate the need for the battery by using a small gasoline or better diesel engine to generate electric power for the motors you would have increased range with all the power of full electric drive.

Evo is the most respected thing they make so they better not f that up. I just see some news that they not killing it but want to make it more green. I all for green technology but they need to make it more green AND keep it as a performance car, not make it bigger as some reports say.

In other news, Ring taxi might die :(
but they shouldnt let that die, is a big tourist attraction and i want to ride in it before i dead

i hate it too........can't do much mods to it like a gasoline engine but they are faster and more responsive but they also charge for very long hours as opposed to gasoline where you just stop and a gas station for about 5 minutes max full up and move on and there's also the issue of air pollution with respect to gasoline engines.

Hold that

There is also the problem of when Mitsubishi starts these EV projects that they may design a sports version to it (eg. evolution) and can influence other Jappo manufacturers to do the same when they realize the competition mitsubishi is gonna be coming with :(

if ya'll saw years ago on best motoring, the GTR engineers were planning on using electric motors on the front wheels of the new GTR, like the March and Micra AWD versions.. i see this technology coming to supercars VERY soon as electric motors and lithium batteries have come a LONG way and making GOBS power from hybrid cars is no biggie now

just look at the GT3 Hybrid from Porsche

Call me crazy but I was actually looking forward to the diesel/hybrid Evo; I enjoy seeing automotive oddities (plus turbodiesels are everywhere in this country; its hard not to like those pick ups) and the torque of an electric motor would be absolutely ridiculous when working together with a diesel... Oh well...

I'm not gonna give up hope as yet however... mitsubishi was working on an electric EVO since 2006 if y'all didn't already know... they're actually some benefits too (weight right on the wheels for example).

Here's the link

http://www.autoblog.com/2005/08/24/mits ... ic-motors/

And as for the GT-R, this was out a while back but I'm not sure what to think about it... (I hope it doesn't look like that though)

I know their are benefits of EVs......but my only thing is that you cant mod it like a gasoline engine
