Hey Saeed,
Good questions.
1. Membership cost?To register and become a member of CARS, it cost $100.
This entitles you to the following
(a) Free gate entry at all of the 10 solodex/bycc event (non members pay $20. at the gate)
(b) Members pay $20. less to enter the Solodex competition
(c) You are a registered to take part in the overall championship for the year
(d) You can vote at the CARS AGM at the end of the year.
Competition fee per event is as follows:
Solodex event : $120. for members and $140. for non members
BYCC events are $120. for everyone.
2. Where do I register? You can register on the day of the event at the timing tent.
David or Gen will be in the timing tent on the morning of the event making sure that all the registrations are documented. You can register for membership at the timing tent as well.
3. Is there a map of what the course will look like? The course to be used at each Solodex event will be posted at least 2-3 days before the event right here on our forums. We may also look at emailing the course to our mailing list as well.
If you are not on our mailing list as yet please send an email to
carstt@gmail.com and request that you be added to our mailing list.
4. What is the start time? The event start time is 11:00 AM. Registration will stop at 10:30AM.
We will allow late registration from 10:30AM - 11:00AM but at a cost of $50.
In the past, starting late forced our events to finish very late. This year we are pushing to start on time so we are asking that everyone taking part please come on time. Remember that your car needs to be checked before the event. I would suggest that you come for 9:30am.
5. What else do I need to know?General rules are :
Helmets are mandatory. We have a limited number available for rent so come early if you want one.
Must have on a long pants
No sleeveless
No slippers. You must have on a proper shoe (sneakers are fine)
No loose stuff should be in your car while on the course (we look for this in scrutineering
Must have a battery clamp
Make sure your foot brake and hand brake is in working condition
I would advise that you do a proper check on your car (oils, front end etc.)
Other necessary items:
(1) Hat (place is really hot at times and you will be in the sun)
(2) Umbrella (in case it rains)
(3) Drinking water. You can get dehydrated easily if the place is really hot. Sometimes the guy who comes to sell stuff may run out so it’s safe to walk with your own.
(4) Granola bar or a sandwich. Solodex takes all day
(5) Sunscreen. (Better safe than sorry)
(6) Extra tee shirt and socks or slippers. If you get wet or sweat a lot those items may be very useful.
(7) Notepad and a pen. I am a fan of writing things down. As you start talking to the more experience guys, you may get some tips that you want to write down or do a drawing and get an idea of race lines.
I can’t stress enough the importance of asking questions and chatting with the more experienced guys. Take your time and understand the theory given to you. Question the theory if you don’t think it makes sense.
The most important thing is to remember to have fun. We are all there to race and compete, but we are also there to have fun, relax a bit and have a good time.
