So.. bonus 6 out, did the cappuccino challenge this morning. Was weird, with the mods I did on the car it was faster if I shifted before redline, like at 8krpm. Hopefully should finish the rest this weekend.

question...in the bonus races...if you don't mod at all and try to win with a stock car do you get more credits??

Nope, no more experience, all that happens is you don't "lose" as much money modifying the car so the earnings are greater. I don't think the cappuccino stock can win though, the long straights favour faster cars and even with just medium race tyres I was slower on each lap so I just did a few cheaper mods.

Good question, since that is how they did it in GT4.....but the point system were not significant in GT4..........
In GT5 on the other hand, points are not taken away in relation to how modded your car is, yet the "points" system is one of the most importantant things in this game (GT5)......so much so, it trumps the importance of attaining Liscenses........the latter in this version is ONLY there to "train" you a bit more on how to handle various cars and tracks (at first it helped you gain the Experience points, but with the introduction of the "Seasonal events", can be put on the back burner)

because it is a little too much to type to explain, so if he pm's me I'd give him my # and let him call and I would explain it fully

I have no problem sharing info, it just maybe a little too much typing to do
but just in case tr1ad feels I'm holding back, here's basic advice:
For all the seasonal events, all I suggest you buy is Racing Softs, everything max in Drivetrain, Stage 1 and 2 weight reduction, and hood and glass, stage 1 engine mod, stage 1 Turbo, oil change and rear spoiler and mild exhaust/ intake if you want ......with that, a little tuning on lsd and you can win comfortably

With the car fully modded (all parts) you can be in first place by the 3rd lap.......so its not always necessary

Buy tires first.. the previous bonus events I tried to only put race tyres and if I'm still gettin left behind then go back to do performance mods.

The only suspension/drivetrain mod needed for that Ferrari is the tires....the only other things I did was a stage 1 tune and exhaust and even that seemed a bit much.....Anything more than that is a waste of credits.

The corvette race took some more effort and tuning.....

Only mods I do, oil change, tyres, and ecu mod.

Makes it more fun and challenging to me.

Soft tires handle better but wear faster.

Hard tires last longer but handle rough.

Yes, you do, but I think it's only when you start the game on your birthday, not sure if your birthday comes up during your progress in the game you would still get the car..........the gift you get is a car that came out the same year as your birth year

As you may have forgotten, when you open a profile on your PS3, one of the things you filled out was personal info, which included your date of birth........the PSN account uses that information, which in turn registers on the game

How to do the B-day Trick - An Easy to Follow Guide:
(Yes, it looks complicated and long-winded but it really is straight forward.)

Follow the steps below and be sure to read the important notes at the end:

Requirements: (What you'll need to do this trick)
You'll need to have a PS3 that's online, as this trick / cheat / exploit won't work offline.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

You'll have your main Gran Turismo 5 / GT5 game save that'll be referred to as your main account in the rest of this guide. You'll need to create duplicate accounts, these will be referred to as dupes.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

Below is a list of all the cars in the game by year for you to use with this trick:
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

Car List 1942 to 1992 for Birthday Car Cheat Exploit
[opens in a new window]

On that page above, press CTRL+F to enable a search function.
Type the year you wish to search for and all results will be highlighted on the page.
For example, if you search for 66, then every instance of that number will be highlighted for you.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

How To Do the Birthday Trick / Cheat / Exploit:
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

ONE:
On your PS3 XMB, go to Users > Create New User.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

TWO:
Sign in with this account, and then go to Sign Up For Playstation Network.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

THREE:
Select Create A New Account.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

FOUR:
You'll need to select a date of birth. This is the most important part.
Select the current date, and then select the year of the cars you want to receive.
If you're interested in trying to win a Mercedes-Benz Sauber Mercedes C9 Race Car '89, then you need to choose 1989 as your year of birth.
DO NOT select any year after 1992.
Due to parental restrictions, any accounts with birthdays after 1992 will not be able to receive gift cars.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

FIVE:
Accept the user agreement.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

SIX:
Create a Sign-In ID.
This needs to be an email address, and can be fake.
Make up something like: madeupname@gmail.com or madeupname@yahoo.com
Fill in the rest of your information.
Choose to save your password.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

SEVEN:
Create an Online ID. Choose whatever you want here.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

EIGHT:
You then need to enter a first and last name.
Put whatever you want in here. It does not matter. I usually enter a random string of letters.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

NINE:
For your address, you can put a single letter in Street Address 1 and Street Address 2, or simply make up something for Street Address 1, such as 404 Spring Drive.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

TEN:
Choose a real city, state, and zip / post code.
The system will reject entries where the zip / postal code and state do not match up.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

ELEVEN:
You're almost done!
Finish making the account and then sign in with your brand new dupe account.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

TWELVE:
Send a friend request to your main account.
Log in with your main account, and accept the friend request from your dupe account.
Now log back into your dupe account.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

THIRTEEN:
Start up Gran Turismo 5, go through all the initial start up procedures, and then go to GT Mode
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

FOURTEEN:
Confirm all the initial GT Mode options.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

FIFTEEN:
You will then be awarded 5 Museum Cards and a Ticket for a free car for the year that you were born!
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

SIXTEEN:
You may use the voucher now to reveal the car, or you pass the voucher on to your main account.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

SEVENTEEN:
You can gift cars and items from their respective menus (Garage, Museum, etc.) or you can go to Community, select your main account from there and click on Gifts.
If your menu becomes stuck in the garage (name won't show and the icon continues to show a spinning clock) then use the community gift giving options.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

EIGHTEEN:
You may need to purchase an initial car if you redeem your ticket on your dupe account and don't have anything else to drive yet.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

NINETEEN:
Again, keep in mind you can also send Paint Chips and Museum Cards to your main account if you are collecting these items.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

TWENTY:
When you have sent everything you want to transfer, quit to the XMB.
Then go to your dupe account's Saved Data Utility, and delete your Gran Turismo 5 game save. Select the game save, then press Triangle and then delete.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

TWENTY ONE:
Restart the game on your dupe account and repeat as often as you like, for unlimited cars and credits.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

IMPORTANT NOTES:
*Accounts are only able to gift one car a day.
By deleting your dupe's save file, you bypass this restriction.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

*Extremely expensive prize cars cannot be sold for credits.
You can use them, collect them, gift them to friends, but they can only be removed from your garage permanently if you select the Sell option.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

*The easiest way to accrue credits is by selecting your birth year as 1944. You will be awarded the Volkswagen Kubelwagen typ82 '44 every single time you perform this trick. This car can be sold for 73,500 credits.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

*Again, remember that you cannot get any car after 1992 with this trick.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

*The best year to select seems to be 1967.
There are several prize cars that would cost 20,000,000 credits a piece if bought legitimately.
Other good years include 1966 and 1992, as there are cars worth over 100,000 in terms of resell value. However, you might receive a different car instead.
[from iwantgamecheats.com]

*Consider saving extra cars for trading or gifting with your friends!
You can hold tournaments and award prizes.

Here is a list of cars, by their year of manufacture, to be used with the
Birthday Car Cheat Exploit. and the Museum Cards / Cars Cheat Exploit.
Note: P=Premium - S=Standard - P/S=Both.

I love racing soft tyres for jumping of the line and getting a head start but after 3 laps you suffer.
Hard tyres will run you several laps, according how the stage, settings and laps are coordinated, make your best decision.

This is what gt5 is about

PSN ERROR [774] - Entry was refused due to network incompatibility with room host.

I was getting this error last night after being continuously disconnected from Hobbs-R's room. With a little research I found that all that's needed is for another person to host the game, but Hobbs-R and myself wont be able to see each other in races.

sorry about that bro,......I take it you're limitGTX......I don't know what happened there, but I left the room half way through and returned, and stileo became host, it was my lounge still apparently, so I can't explain that
