Looking for quality home entertainment furniture, please post your recommendations. I'm considering one with a wood backing (behind the tv), nothing extravagant. Most likely it'll one of those American brands such as Ashley.

Thanks, but looking to purchase locally. My living room has a light cream colour, the dark wood backing would hopefully accentuate the blacks and colours on the tv. Similiar to how you have a dark background to your tv, in my case my living room, kitchen and dining room are in one open area.
Looking for something similiar to this-

If I can't source one locally at a good price I'll go with one similar to this -

^ thats why I sent you to BDI and told you to check earlier in the thread

I got the design from BDI (the Avion unit) and I got someone to make it for me locally.
Works out cheaper too and you get it at exactly the size you need.

A lot of pages to go through, didn't read where you built it locally, sounds good, will look into this.

Nice Pios. Looking for a receiver like that.
Mind telling me where you got?
Also anyone use the digital out on the PS3?
Any difference to using HDMI?

^ it wont be better than HDMI

SPDIF/Optical/Digital audio cannot support the bandwidth that HDMI can and so it cannot support HD audio such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio - you need HDMI for that.

@mitch, sweeeet!!! I really want to build a linux based XBMC machine with a small SSD as a HTPC.

I think Pioneer brought in that model through Raptor

^ good choice

if you don't ever plan on going 3D then you can settle for a receiver with HDMI 1.3 and you will get all the bandwidth needed for full HD audio and video. If however you plan to go 3D, 4K res support or you need an audio return channel or ethernet then you will need HDMI 1.4

you can compare them here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Version_comparison

99% of us dont use 3D, 4K, audio return or ethernet via HDMI right now but that percentage will decrease over time and it's always good to be forwards compatible, though I think by the time 4K comes around, even HDMI 1.4 will be the old format.

I bought a DVI to Component video adaptor the other day to watch movies from the PC on the TV but all i am seeing are pink and some times blue lines,,,,,,What can cause this? Fault in adaptor? When I use the component video outs from the DVD player it shows normal, but the DVD player has an option to output progressive video signals which when selected shows the same coloured lines thing,,,,,,,really dont want to resort to using a s-video to composite adaptor(yellow jack)

Image
its one like this but without the switches, I was supposed to get one like this but I guess Amazon ripped me off,,, oh well US$2.67 goes down the drain

Video card is a GeForce 8600GT and the tv is one of these Image

Hi guys i have a question
I have two speaker box i would like to preserve, they are both chip board i dont know how old
I was thinking to re-box it with mdf over existing box cause the base is flaking
but i want a real classy look, cause the wife dont like to see "junk"
Its two KEF Reference series model 104aB.
I would vouch they play cleaner than my klipch 62 as i played some Indian instrumental for test and they are superb. i just wanted to preserve them
thats how i got to keep them lol
here is a pic
it looks bad but it is sealed as i push the passive radiator the driver responds
remarkably in the same direction when done slowly
Any ideas

Nice find Pioneer, has anyone built a diy speaker kit? Looking at some off the speaker kits from Partsexpress, Madisound, the plan is to build a normal 3.0 system and add sub and rear later on. System will be used for 75% music and 25% movies. Any recomendations?
