I'd like to know of your experiences getting tested for contact lens in Trinidad AND in the US, Insurance, Service, Costs, etc. also Selection with Coloured vs Clear.

Thx

Accuvue Oasys for astigmatism is the best I have tried so far. Like the ad says, you can't tell you are wearing em (once they are clean).
I get mine from Lenses.com. Order ahead of time, shipping is sometimes slow to T&t via skybox.

Thanks for the feedback but tell me..
How's the test itself to get fitted/prescription for contacts?
How are the prices in Trinidad vs US?
Once I do the test can I get the prescription and walk into any optician's and buy contacts? Or buy them online?
And are you guys talking about disposable or permanent contacts?

Bausch & Lomb Purevision Toric (1 month disposable).....i see better with this than acuvue (too much rotation in my eyes with acuvue)
i test in Trinidad and buy online, once u ask for the prescription they usually give it to u
oh an u can sleep in purevision toric as well it doesn't limit oxygen to the eye, its one of the few lenses that have been approved for extended wear.

They're becoming a pain.. I was only supposed to wear them to work on the computer or watch tv, but it seems my vision is deteriorating. And now I need to wear them all day long. Which doesn't fly by me because it leaves impression on the ridge of my nose.

So contacts it is..

Thanks guys for the info...

Looking to purchase contacts before weekend. Where's the best place to get tested and purchase contacts on the East-West Corridor?

I need to do a test and get contacts as well. Got a pair last year but didn't have the time to go back to complete my trial.

I really like wearing contacts tho, after all the years wearing glasses and having a sorta phobia for touching my eye really made me miss out on how great wearing contact is. :(

Where did you do it last time? I'm looking at getting tested and buying a trial set locally before purchasing in bulk online.

I did my eye test at Visions Optical and they were very thorough, and scheduled follow ups with their customers. They prescribed Acuvue oasys and honestly I never regretted it, a comfortable fit and no irritation.

Even after working on the computer for hours you don't feel the usual dry eye discomfort…

value normally does all my optical work. the test is simple sanch they test 1, how much oil your eyes produce im am borderline so i have to clean/replace lenses more often and 2, the diameter of your iris as everyone isnt the same so just like glasses ur contacts are suited to you. once they determine the strength needed they will give you atrial pair to use for a week to make sure they are comfortable and not causing any problems. after that well the decision is yours if you want to buy locally or online i usually get straight from them as it saves me time i just order and collect. Presently i am using a new lens on the market called BIOMEDICS toric lenses they are very good and highly recomended by top opticians even most of them are using it locally. i usually pay 600-700 for six pairs as my eyes have two different perscriptions. each pair last about a month but i use them for sometimes two months before they start to elongate due to the astigmatism. i honestly wouldnt reccomend permanent if you have an astigmatism as this causes the lens to elongate after time and you would end up having to replace any way disposables are the way to go.

Conrad any optician can do the test unfortunately most are extremly busy so u will have to book an appointment. usually when u get tested they will give you a trial pair for free to try out once they have stock that is sutible for your eyes cost for test is about 150 if i remeber.
hope this helps.

Just called Value Optical, test is $180.00 and I'm already booked for an appointment tomorrow afternoon which is excellent. Would go the way of disposables most likely, hopefully my pescription wouldn't tip me on the more expensive end of the contact lenses scale.

Can't stand the clumsiness of having glasses on my face as well as the mark that is left on my nose ridge as well as dirty/stained nose pads. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be glasses free!

miss, buy lenses from visiondirect.com
best service and price.

and a contact lens exam is about $100.

and they give u a pair of lenses to try for a two weeks.

i use accuvue oasys, and by far they are the best i ever had.
i wear it for one month straight, no problems.

with visiondirect, u get coupons and free stuff all the time.

do u have someone in the US to buy it for u?

I like this thread.
Which brands/types are least prone to drying out in a/c?
I'm on my trial pair and after a short while it's a pain to be in the a/c...esp while driving :(

contacts users, always keep a bottle of renu eyedrops for contacts.

because all manner of sheit goes in your eyes sometimes.

and Hook, each lens have different effect on people.

i tried accuvue 2, accuvue, freshlook, and freshlook colourblends,
none is as good as Accuvue Oasys.

They really comfortable and i wear them for one month straight, then let my eyes rest for a few days then wear another pair for a months straight.
