Postby speedfreak44 » August 16th, 2010, 6:46 pm

ok rescently bought an eg8 car was very well maintain, body wise , suspensions etc
the engine is a d15b carburetor auto
last weekend i swapped in a S20 gear box from another car, swap for swap from a lady who had a manual. :D :D

right now im thinking to swap in a 3stag d15b from the vti ek3 :) :)
soooooo

what do i need? engine , harness, ecu, do i have to get a manual engine or an auto will be just fine?

axles etc? my stock axles will work?

i also swamped in eg9 rotors and calipers, that i had from my car and doing rear disc swap also on Wednesday , sir proportion valve installed also

So back to the engine...

Are you getting the the 3 stage manual or auto?
the manual ECU from the 96 is OBD2a P2J 003 without this is problems.
the 96 also comes with larger axles but i think the joint size is the same you will also need the harness i did not see any manual 3 stage engines in the bamboo for the past week i got an auto 99 instead

^^ Or just run an external pump. No need to interfere with the fuel tank.

I don't see the reasoning behind this. The carb fuel pump is in the engine bay and sucks the gas from the tank. The crank turns that pump. So essentially the carb tank already have an external pump.

I did this swap before. The engine I got came with a cvt, and the only issue I got was an idle hunt. The mech played with it until it settled down. The only difference would be the rev limit. 7400 for auto and cvt and 7600 for manual i believe. It doesn't even throw a code with the whole cvt missing  . The axels are the same. Keep the eg mount on the passenger side, the ek mount you'll get with the engine won't work. Whatever you do with fuel delivery, PUT THE FUEL PUMP ON A GOOD +. The electrician did crap with mine and anytime vtec switch over the car bogged until I changed the +.

the old tank was really stink, its basically a push or pull mech... cuz the tank is the same from what i looked at, never the less

sky the box is s20 so i had no mount issue all mounts line up fine, i jus mounted the engine and box up. will do alxes and stuff 2mrw
