Gearbox leak

Postby New Breed » August 15th, 2010, 9:43 pm

Hey ppl, change gearbox oil last week and is was low,( yearly change) anyway i put in some oem. drove 4 a day or 2 things was good. Found a bad leak after driving hard Friday. Looked at the engine oil it was brown gold and the oil on the ground was black. Now i have a rear engine leak that takes a quart ever month and a half, but this leak was bad after the hard drive.... i let it sit for ah hour and the leak stoped so its not continuous, look like it's pressurised. leak looks like it comin where the gearbox and engine meets (like where the rear engine seal would leak) not sure if its my rear seal gettin worst, anyway.... what i wanna know is where ah the leaking points in a gearbox ( in general but i have ah s40 d15b) and is there any vent so to speak that the oil could leak if i over filled the gearbox ( i gave her 2 quarts) tanks......

There are 4 seals on a transmission; the two axles, the shift rod and the mainshaft (goes in to the clutch).
Do you have any clutch problems?
According to what you're saying, it seems like the mainshaft seal.
