Ae80's security and you?

Postby Zeriam » May 28th, 2010, 11:13 pm

how do you protect your car?
seeing as i they broke into mines today and stole my music lets start with the basics
what type of key and lock do you have?
which is best.
i been told the cylinder locks+key is the best to use.
i currently have the oversize laser cut key and lock but it proved useless.

took the speakers in the back and left the remote and 2 afm and a turbo and my tac which was worth more than the deck and speakers put together. but atlest i still have my car

well its also possible to get power lock actuators along with a viper alarm and use key-less entry, eliminating the use of any type of key to enter the car! the actuators will cost about $300

that can be bought at almost any store that installs them.
price jumped to $300? used to be $150 a piece.

next time you're in south.
Try the third building on your left past T&TEC, between the Chinese restaurant / bar, and Sincere's.

noticed the below with toyota's up to and including the AE91.
Worn toyota keys, would open the locks.
The old keys from our PS series corolla, opened almost all we tried.

^ damn truth cressida and wagonrunner

i fed up locked teh AE80 keys in the car and pick the lock with a hairpin and a smaller key

true story :s

on the upside tho the ignition wasn't so easy to pick, ignore the fact that all the wires were easily accessible tho

Even with the new cylinder locks it's very easy to open the car.
All that is needed is a piece of wire, bend a hook, slip it between the glass and strip and pull the locking arm.
All the older model cars came with the rod and is very easy to "pick"
Best bet is to tint the car so they can't see easily what you have and put a good alarm.

somehow i don't think they'll have your alternator under load.
if your battery can start your car, you'll be fine.
