I have been looking around for a Tuscon myself lately...really been impressed with the 2010 model but they sell out like hot bread and the price keeps escalating rapidly.

If i dont get that, may settle for 2008 model tuscon. I find the X-trail a bit overrated and the interior is a little...errr alot plain.

$0.02

I have a 2006 bought new from N&M.No major problems other that a drive shaft vibration and two front warped rotors.Other than that it has given excellent service. The interior admittingly is a tad plain but very functional and has as much space as the Sorento.A quick wipe and its fine. One thing, the plastics scratches easily. There is very little way around that. The bestest feature is the cooling cup holders.I have also had a 2007 Tuscon and I prefer the x-trail in drivability, performance and cargo space. .The interior of the Tuscon cannot take a beating like the x-trail.Also gas damages the paint really easily so any spills have to cleaned IMMEDIATELY,other paints seems a bit resistance but not the black.Other than that the vehicle is running well (90K)and I would buy another one. my 0.02 cents

the muffler bearing usually sticks which causes the a/c condenser to leak coolant.

Actually we took it to Matura Bay the 3rd day we got it .The road(or trail) was read bad and it was pouring so we were driving through slush for the most part.We felt drift, got stuck and had to cross a fallen tree.Well it really took it with ease.I probably would have turned back had I been in a car.....

X-trail common problems:
Poorly Designed Belt tensioner
High pressure Power Steering line (nissan defect apparently)
Weak Large Cradle bushings
Alternator Clutch Pulley goes right after the tensioner has been changed
Shifter Lock on some models.. another nissan defect.

Other than that, all around better deal than a Tuscon.

Because this is Nissan country.

There are more X-Trails, B12, B13, B14, B15, B16, Wingroads, Frontiers/Navaras, Cifero etc than other brands.

Imagine the worst built, slowest, classless, saftey-failure vehicles are the most popular. And everywhere else they are known as the 'cheap brand' yet Trinis is call big price because people like to buy what de ghetto man driving.

Hey the alternator bearing for the xtrail was purchased where cos this sounds like a N&M price cos Im looking for a bearing myself and this sounds really high for a bearing but I need assistance, cos the noise is annoying and really cant afford my trail to be down cos Its my job.

Any assistance will be appreicated

Can't you take the alternator bearing to United Bearings and Equipment Agencies Limited (Barataria or San Fernando) and get an equivalent SKF or NTN bearing at a much lower price?

I am sure your auto electrician should be able to disassemble the alternator to get out the bearing. You should take the original bearing with you so that they can check the size and provide you with an equivalent one.

The auto manufacturers don't make their own bearings anyway. They purchase from OE suppliers such as SKF.
