WTK: wat kinda bird is this??

one of pops workers brought this this morning in a brown bag...
he say he find it in the road...

i put it in a spare cage, bought some cage bowls, seds, put water...etc...

thing is the bird seems tame...

not biting if u put ur hand, whistling all day, and eating and drinking normal :? :?

was gonna giv it away but my lil sister wanna keep and wants to buy a "friend" for it....

so question...

wat kinda bird is it??
can u tell if its male or female??
should i buy it a male or female "friend"??

u hafta watch to see if it stoop dong or lif up one leg to pee...thas how u know if iz a boy or a gyul bird

that's a love bird...yes they are very sociable and communal so you should get another.

it will die without another.carry the thing in a pet store man,the people in the store will know and they can recommend a suitable mate!

Looks like a Lovebird , not a native bird as far as I know or else I would tell you to let it go .

its a love bird. be careful when choosing another one cuz if they dont like each other they wud fight constantly. u dont hav to get a next bird once u give it enough attention daily

its a love bird as said above.
if you dont find a mate for it it will start chewing through everything in the cage that it can. even with a mate i suggest you dont have any wooden items in the cage they like to eat them through

word.....

ill go buy him/ her a friend....

it makes no sense releasing a tame bird....
they more than likely wont be able to fly for long and definately cant fend for them selves so ill keep him in a the cage......

^^^ you can actually release a tame bird, most often they would stick around your house once you keep feeding them

WDA.. uncle you a mod now????

BTW they are not originally local wild birds but they have been release and or gotten away thus now can be found in many area's flying free. The local budgies and love birds are almost 100% green but these birds are mixing in with the populations in the wild. (had a long conversation with a bird keeper about it)

is that good or bad? i guess it means the native birds now have a lot more competition for food. But on the bright side at least it adds some colour to our skies :)
