Audiopipe vs IASCA Stock 1 - 150.2dB ; )

Postby 3stagevtec » March 20th, 2010, 12:11 am

Gotta love that subject..

This is my brother's setup, he is using two Audiopipe TXXAP10W (10") subs rated at 600W each. We have approx 4000 Stetsom Watts available for competition use, if required..

The system was installed according to IASCA Stock 1 rules and we will be competing with it throughout the season.. Currently my bro (does not) hold the highest SPL score for 2 10"s in the country, all (except Jeff, lol) is welcomed to come challenge for that title.. :fadein:

The highest score..

The power, yes, it's ALOT!

Some testing on the meter..

Would love to see more guys coming out and compete.. Not only representing yourself, but the country as IASCA is on an international stage..

actually, before we started the test, my bro forgot to connect one of the subs to the amp.. and he burped it almost full out!

i saw close to 3" of excursion on the connected sub, and now cracks are appearing in the spider.. lol

(if anyone has any questions about competing feel free to ask.. i have noticed that alot of guys have the equipment and are willing to compete, it's just that they lack knowledge on the subject..)

d MOST important thing to note here is forget d amp but look what brand of subs he using , alot of ppl feel u have to buy d $5,000+ subs but its $700 each for 1 of these & its putting all those big name brands that feel they are d best thing since sliced bread to shame ....

I hope you're working on your setup too! 144dB from a musical tuned box is GREAT! So imagine if you adjust the tuning right..

Can't wait to see you at the lanes Viking..

nah i wouldn't advise ~rajiv~, to kill out d nice sounding R's - buy 1 or 2 other subs than u wont mind beating up on & keep d R's right there in their current daily use box ...

considering the power he is using, that wouldn't be a problem.. so he can save the money on having to buy new subs and just concentrate on the box design..

Those AudioPipes only go in the vehicle either for testing or competing... As soon as I reach home from competition, they come out the vehicle and sit in a corner...

Great to hear people entering the SPL lanes...

but they can shake the sheit out of an arena though,
its all in the install, and the purpose of the install
3stage and his bro are good at the spl installs, they have all the factors affecting the score worked out in their head already, thats why every time they do any install in that suv it impresses.

Waiting to see him try some zebras

d arena has no calibrated device to measure anything so thats why SPL will always be d preferred choice of ppl who want to compete against others on a level playing field

it cost less too - no need to spend over 10k for mids\highs since u dont need any - its just to prove on a meter how truly loud ur sub\s can really get ... :|

SO heres some stuff I learnt last year via trial and recones. Sadly I didnt document how much was gained but for me to have taken note it had to have worked.

1.Make sure the front baffle is very solid and thick( not like the red thing from St.Madline)8-) 8-)

2.Make sure each sub loads the same way. if one sub is moving more than the other, it can usually end up with some cancellation, or even ruining a sub. learnt this one in kaydonna 143db day!!.

3.PVC pipe *3inch works*, cut it in half and put them right on the sides of the port, were the round edges roll into the port. Jacob had a thread somewhere.

4. Round ports totally pwn their 4 sided counterparts and areos will pwn PVC pipes( so I was informed dont shoot me).

5. When you find yourself looking wanting to do your big three, bigger is better in terms of wire. Big3 does help!..0X

6. Try positioning your seats up front all the way forward and leaning toward the dash. Play with the visor positioning and rear view mirrors too.If you have an overhead console also fold down all the pockets.Take the rear panels off the back end and you will find some vents/flaps you can actually feel air come out when its playing...seal those off. Then there's always certain places on the car that can be braced to help pick up db's. As simple as having your glovebox open and empty was a gain for me. :headbang:

7. Try duct taping your subs, 3 or 4'' strips of duct tape done in a circle to make like a roll off between the enclosure and the sub. No masking tape does not work in the same way.

8. There is no such thing as too much power/port . FOr me small boxes with large ports worked best but in my buddies car a large box was more beneficial for him.

9. Spend some time on the meter. This is the only way you can perfect your score, without some meter time outside the arena you may very well be shooting in the dark...

NOTE- These worked for me, they may not work for you but they are simple things you can try to gain .1db that can give you that win.. Also take note all these tips cost next to nothing SPL aint all that hard man, its so simple its almost stupid..

So break out the duct tape and remember ugly is loud. :D :D :D
