RE: Stirling Moss falls down elev. shaft, seriously injured

Postby djaggs » March 8th, 2010, 4:26 pm

Damn, this sucks. he is a hero and legend to many, I hope he recovers fully. It wud be really awful if after risking his life for so many years and escaping death so many times that he would die in an elevator at the age of 80. Hope you recover fully Sir Moss, respect.

1950s Formula One legend Sir Stirling Moss is in intensive care after a three-story fall at his home in London.

The 80-year-old Briton, who won 16 Grands Prix, has broken ankles, feet and vertebrae damage but the injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The Daily Mail newspaper reported that, that an elevator in his house malfunctioned and stayed at the fourth floor. Moss stepped into the shaft on the third floor and fell to the concrete base.

"Amazingly he did not suffer any internal injuries," confirmed
British Racing Drivers' Club secretary Stuart Pringle, who said Moss has been operated on.

"Lady (Susan) Moss has just telephoned me and although Sir Stirling is not in good shape, (but) he is no longer in danger," he added.

The first man to run down the Lausanne straight at Le Mans at over 170mph with no helmet, no seatbelt, skinny arse tyres.....

Cant imagine any modern day F1 driver being as sporting as this.

That's terrible. Just the other day I was reading about how he manages his finances. He owns a string of rental homes around his mayfair property, and travels on a moped to do any building maintenance that may arise. This is coming from a man that's 80 years old. Legendary.
