lancer3...was just browsing some older posts

do you have any update on this install.

how does it sound?
any soundstage challenges?
are you getting what you wanted?
is it as easy to get correct as some think it is?

do tell...

Yea its up and running...

how does it sound?

i can safely say it sounds much better than my last setup. Its more detailed and realistic

any soundstage challenges?

my biggest challenge is the width, it became smaller and it now lies between my 2 a pillar. To me i dont have a problem with it and can surely live with it.

are you getting what you wanted?

i wanted a higher and deeper soundstage, and with this setup i achieved this. It also helped with imaging, its not perfect but its more focused and placement is ok. Dint get any time to play around with a dashmat yet, but when i do i hope it images better.

is it as easy to get correct as some think it is?

yes/no, i believe it all comes down to processing, TA and intensities is a must.

jeff

rite now i am getting the midrange correct. the fabrication for the a pillar is complete with cosmetics yet to be done. I am just testing to get a feel of the processor settings i would be using.

got my midbasses this week, so will be working on them over the weekend. so over the next week i shoud have the mids and midbasses installed.

So next week will be a week of testing and again getting my xo points etc correct. i also have a lil tonal issue to address.

from there its just to fabricate and install the sub/enclosure....and then the real testing begins. hopefully by the end of may i should be done...and prepping for comps.

this is the midrange i have decided to use in the "enclosure" i decided to go with. i fabbed four different enclosures and testing with four different drivers....and i like this arrangement best.

plays from 90hz all the way to the top and powered for now with 120w. the enclosure is open backed, damped on the inside. like i said i have some to issued to address and then its to wrap with grille cloth.

actually the purpose of either of these builds is not the same as those in the steve meade site

it would appear roger's and lancer3's purpose is that of a sq system, one that displays great tonality with imaging and soundstaging, i dont believe loudness was ever a consideration in either of these builds.

maybe next event, you can come and listen to the finished products and see if u can hear the difference if any, in the sound between the eminence alpha's and these speakers

gonna start fabbing the sub arrangement this weekend (nothing flashy) so maybe...

and btw....that sub enclosure from the demo was a quick mock up and a not so good representation of my limited skills...lol (that box literally dried on my way to the demo!!)
