out the box a dc5 would rape a tezza, no denying that. Forget throwing in a 3sgte in the altezza, you would have to do to much changes, first of the 3sgte never came in a front engine rwd format, so you would have to use a rwd gbox from the older model supra the w58 i believe and some fabrication is involved, plus you would have to go distributorless ignition since the 3s distributor would come damn near close or hit the firewall.
If i was to do a swap in the tezza it would be a 1jzgte manual or if you dont want to screw up the weight distribution go with the 1uzfe 4.0lt v8, its actually 100lb lighter than the 3sgte because of the aluminum block where as the 3sgte has iron block. The 1uz is a power house, it has untapped potential, i believe toyota still uses it motorsports, its the most balanced engine they ever made.

The 1uz is a 4.0lt 4 cam v8, its toyota's strongest and most balance v8 the supra guys are now swapping out the 2jz for the 1uz and turboing it, its crazy, the test below shows toyota build quality and how balance the 1uz is, a similar test was done in the Tokyo auto show when toyota launched the soarer, engine also comes in a model aristo and new model crown. Its muthafcuking bad ass, if Toyota didnt think so then they wont still be using it in motorsport today.

hks built it for their drag car, it did 6.5 sec in the 1/4 and put out close to 2000hp, thats the region for these v8's. As with any toyota they come heavily detuned from the factory so the hp is low which is why Toyotas are known to be so reliable, they tune the cars VERY conservative expecting all types of conditions, but the torque is crazy

That has be done. Sanctioned by toyota too. It was a prototype never meant for production but it was a great looking altezza. That was the unofficial predecessor of the IS-F. they called the the IS430. Google it

i have seen a 3sgte swap in an altezza. Plenty custom work as Alltrac said but a realiable 330+ at the wheels

the DC5 would be faster than a stock altezza from a dig. it is a heavier car. I know i ran pass a few DC5s with my tezza but that was from a roll.

I still wouldn't buy a front wheel before a rear wheel drive though

can anyone say why the prices of used Altezza have jumped so much, I know these cars selling for 100K and less (as little as 70K) why are they suddenly appearing with prices of $125K? *Not sure if they're getting sold at those prices though*

won't get a low milage one, more likely one over 100Km but very well maintained, I've seen RS200 (the preferred model) with tasteful mods (suspension, intake) both manual and auto sell for $85K as late as November last year, there was a lovely example of one with full stock appearance with a stock 1JZ turbo go for $75K.... I know stock ones fetch a better price but that's a huge appreciation of value, I'm just wondering why

2nrs, reviving this old thread instead of creating a new as I am interested of purchasing one of these cars at this time.

I haven't seen any definitive feedback on the gas consumption in the thread though. For a daily driver from south to POS and back this a concern for me when choosing between the 1G-FE and the 3S-GE. Can anyone provide some info on actual economy?

depends on your right foot i think. IS200 is a 60L tank = 240tt full up on premium. when i was 1G with the charger that would last monday to friday. (full up sunday night, coming close to E friday afternoon) central to pos, in traffic in the morning (with a/c) and mixed with some spirited driving in the evening. sorry i don't have exact numbers to give u. hope it helps anyway
