Postby Bacon » December 24th, 2009, 1:43 am

So I kinda new do this slr thing and looking for a lil entry level SLR and thinking bout one of the two.....

It ain't make sense I buying anything better right now cause by the time I figure out how to use it, I woulda done mash it up anyway :|

What are your thoughts regarding my choice of the above?

I still have to post some prices for price comparison but not everyone post their boxing day prices yet.

if you do enough research, you'll find that the Canon T1i always comes out on top,the Nikon with more compromises.I like Nikon, but the Canon always manage to have the edge. :?

Thanks for all the advise so far......the canon seems better......but I like how the nikon feels and I getting the nikon with both a 18-55 & 55-200 lens for the around the same price for the canon with only the 18-55......

I guess the reason of the post is for some advise from you experts as to why the canon will be better for me as a novice.....

more tuners have Canon as well and so you will get a better support group for your photography adventures

but always buy what you feel more comfortable with as you are the one using the camera

from my experience both bodies are more or less the same...the canon give a more warmer photo though...somehow the color on the nikon is a bit dull....
but after the body, nikon cannot come around canon wrt lenses...

Please stay away from the 75-300 it's rated as one of Canon's worse lens here is a great price on the T1i kit with the 18-55 IS and the 55-250 IS .

benko,Dragist, Those were exactly the kindof deals I was expecting boxing day, but nothing like that here in Canada on that model only the xsi :? :? :?

With tax and stuff shipping from the US, I go just have to bite the bullet here....

I heading out 4am tom, worse scenario if I do not get any better deal (or am chained up by a sweet Nikon deal :stalk: ) should I buy the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f-4-5.6 IS Lens for $279.99

Well...well....well.....

It was a long morning but I made it back home and there is a Canon T1i resting on my floor.....

I just bought the 18-55 kit without the 55-250 lens partly because I did not know if it was worth it and partly because I got distracted and bought a sweet ps3 bundle

Thanks for all the advice and hopefuly tom I will have enough energy to play around with it

I will be back for lens advice very soon......just need to recover a bit mentally (not acustomed spending money on myself :| )

Well back off to face the madness :?

Aaron I have a slightly different oppinion, Nikon color is more exacting and true to what you actually see, but the canons give richer color, as in more saturation without posterization, as opposed to warmer color which you suggested, which is just a function of white balance. Even my old canon 10D Trounces the D5000 I have used in color richness (from working with the raw files in the same color space). You need to work more with nikon to get creative, but more with canon to be true to life.

As far as lenses are concerned, I only see the price of nikon lenses going up. Canon has a better assortment, but the demand for nikon lenses speaks volumes.

Yeah..........Did that on purpose........At least I know that much bout these things......Not much else though......

One hadda go unfortunately......hadda make up my mind.......So yeah one hadda sell.......but given that it in Canada......An order direct from the US go be cheaper than me shipping it down to a tuner........so looks more like a return for now.......

Ok so after playing around with both cameras I kept the Nikon.

For me it was the better camera. It is very user friendly and has a lil feature that tells you what everything is for and as someome with no experience with SLR's I thought that I will become better faster using the Nikon. The swivel screen was nice as well and the wife prefered it too.

The being said the Canon was just as good and would have been a great camera as well. All this Canon / Nikon thing they both functioned pretty much identical.

I am happy I did not have the T1i now that the T2i is out....The T2i looks deadly though.

I posted some pics using it from this page onwards:
http://forums.trinituner.com/forums/vie ... start=3660

Nikon Cdn$660 + tax (12%) Too lazy to calculate.

Canon Cdn $799 + tax (came with a lowepro bag, extra canon battery and UV Filter)

Boxing day prices.
