Diesel Prices Going Up By 57cents ?

Postby V2NR 3.0 » November 28th, 2009, 8:03 am

I heard this on a radio talk-show. The price of Diesel is carded to go up by $0.57cents in the year 2010 ? Spoke with a former Petrotrin counterpart and he also said this was true. This will be done when the upgrades are completed.

This firetruck government yes.

Any one has information on this ?

What uprades are being done to the plant?

Are you referring to the GTL plant? Is it coming on stream next year? There was an article in the newspapers stating that the GTL plant went into receivership (Daily Express, Sept. 30 2009).

If it's cleaner diesel, that's a plus for all of us - cleaners emission (less health issues), less frequent servicing and a relief for the common railers.

The cost of diesel so cheap in TnT it's incredible. Personally I can live with 57 cents increase. 50 cents would have been better though, easier to calculate. I'm hoping we get options, a premium grade and a regular grade.

BTW I believe that last increase was in 2002, where it went up by 22 cents from $1.28 to $1.50

I would like so too, but I doubt it as different grades = different storage requirements

I don't know of any existing service stations that have made provisions for separate and additional storage tanks

maybe teh new stations that currently building\renovating, but definately not any of teh olders Quicke Shops

if there are different grades, then systems can be implemented to prevent such

if is only 1 grade - we screwed

57 cents sounds reasonable compared to the rumored 3$ per liter a year ago ...

Alot of persons are talking of this increase very lightly. While actual owners of diesel vans may not feel the pinch so much, for a moment, think about the effects on a macro basis. Everything using diesel would naturally be increased - delivery vehicles, shipping, all utilities, etc etc.

Its atrocious.

Off course consideration for one's vehicle and environment are both necessary. But the amount of money flowing through this country, such price increases are not warranted. Being employed in the oil and gas industry, i can safely say that.
