Anti Wi Fi Paint

Postby neoise » October 5th, 2009, 10:22 am

http://www.fudzilla.com/content/view/15807/1/

Japanese boffins say they have created a special kind of paint which can block out wireless signals.

It means that those who can't handle writing their own router passwords will have a method of blocking their neighbour from snooping on their networks. The paint contains an aluminium-iron oxide which resonates at the same frequency as wi-fi or other radio waves.

Any signals can't get in or out, say the University of Tokyo boffins. It will not cost that much to make either as cost as little as £10 per kilogram. They insist that it's a quick and cheap way of preventing access to sensitive data from unauthorised users and is an alternative to complicated encryption software.

your standard wireless router will usually operate in the 2.4, 3.6 and 5 GHz bands... AM and FM radio frequencies are a lot lower than these obviously

it can be useful in high security applications... government buildings, etc

x2... you sure about that papi :?
Isn't radio part of the electromagnetic spectrum? Glass cannot stop those.

radio does go through glass easy easy, special types of glass have a reflective coating or are made of materials that reflect them, but still they dont offer much attentuation....we talking like 5 to 10dBs loss
