i got mine installed today... so far no problems

My biggest concern thus far is the remote... is real sheit...
Anyone getting the 'favorites' module to work?... After i set my 'fav channels' in the 'main menu' how do u browse your favorites only? when i press the 'fav button' it going back to the screen in 'main menu' that i used to set them up initially...

Also for the person that asked about the box.... see link below

http://www.coship.com/CoshipEn/Default.aspx?Type=1

its either the N8750 or N8750B... not sure

I passed on Mucurapo Road where they are located on Tuesday and if you see the number of people there to sign up.

From what i heard is was mainly from the sheit that happened with FLOW and their analog boxes over the long weekend.

i still have analog in my street and i glad i had my GD TV.

Paid for the one year in advance last Tuesday - Sep 22nd - one week ago. Informed them of payment made the following day. No response since.

Analog Flow was coming in scrambled for about 3-4 days straight, and they (Flow) said that it was due to the originating satellite feed. Yeah right! Anyways - that drove me to try the GD TV. Will update here when things happen.

Cons of GD so far... after about one wk service

- The EPG in a real mess... not as user friendly as Flow's and it off sync with what actually showing bout 50% of de time (very unreliable - hadda start back using TV guide)
- FOX Sports listed in spanish in the EPG (very gay)
- FOX isnt the same FOX as on Flow... GD has FOX Puerto Rico (wasnt mentioned as 'reg FOX' on the website)
- The 'Favorites' module on de box/remote doesnt help categorize channels (It just shows u a list of your fav channels instead of directing u to them)
- Up to now Synergy aint show by me (Mt. Hope)

Still worth it considering de price of package when compared to Flow...

Yup, it was developed specifically for our market. I spoke to the guys at the GD tech Dept. about sourcing a universal remote to work with the rec. and they said they are trying to get one as well but since the boxes were made specifically for them it was difficult to find one that would work. :|

I agree, the EPG is in a mess, I called up and spoke to a guy who said they are aware of the problem, its an easy fix they just need to speak to their EPG providers to send the correct data. I also complained about FOX and again he agreed and said other customers had complained and they are already working on sorting this out. He said it will be the same as FLOW.

STB/remote, doesn't seem to bother me. I am not a power user.

I remember when they launched ISP they had lots of issues but worked very quickly to sort it out. I also asked the guy what is going on with ISP side of things and although he did not say much, he did indicate that there was something in the pipeline.

no probs. im no pro at these things but i will be taking shots of both FLOW and Greendot's UI and comparing/contrasting, etc. :)

I am a bit busy this weekend into the week so by Wednesday.
BTW wrt to signal, when they tested i was getting -67dBm to about -63dBm. The technicians were pretty cool, etc. I would save the rest for the review ;)

Got installed this evening (Monday Oct 11th) after 20 days since payment (one yr advance). Endeavour, Chaguanas area. I had to call, then fax a copy of the receipt to them, and they arranged to have it done one time. Had it on for the past 3 hrs...so far so good. Apparently their transmitter is located in Gran Couva. The installers were quite helpful, and professional.

Picture quality is fine. Comparable to Flow. Nothing too spectacular though. I like the channel line up, and the program guide is sufficient. Not quite like, but similar to digital Flow, and DirecTV. Only problem as mentioned before is that you can't program your universal remote to replace the Coship remote. No big deal either. Great channel line up. There's no IETV, MTV, Synergy, Speed, G4 or Tempo. BET and VH1 are on test feeds. But there's Zee Cinema, Showtime, Starz and Universal. All in all, I think it's good for the price so far.

LOL bess they reach and i about to reply

xtech, where did u pay? i had minor probs with mine. You have to be a kind of nag because there are lots of people switching.

I might do a lil review tonight if i remember. Nothing fancy though.

Thus far im happy with the service. I still have a few days on my FLOW so im hardly using the Greendot.

Question: Does anyone here use it on proper audio equipment? because i find the audio is a bit better on some channels and others not so great?

Okay, here is my shot at a review of GreenDot's Digital TV Service.

TV: Samsung Series 4 32" 720p LCD.

I applied for the service on the 6th of September. I made a payment at the bank on the 7th. I had minor problems with my payments, etc. The total was $1265w vat. This was for 1 year payment and $500 installation charge.

I waited until 15 days passed and then contacted them and thing is I wasnt approved yet. After a fax and a few calls back and forth, my Installation date was set.

It took a little under an hour to setup. This included: Finding the best spot to mount the Antenna, Mounting it, Installation inside and Loading up of system.

The install was done sufficiently. They looked for the best spot and not the most hideous. They were well prepared for the task at hand. The antenna is not the dish, its a rectangular, similar to a bbq grille.

Generally the staff that i dealt with on the phone were very accommodating and helpful. The technicians who came to do the install were very friendly and cautious.

The antenna is pointed to Central (Couva) and the rest comes in a box like this:
Image
The quality of the signal (video/audio) seemed to be on par with FLOW's service.
At installation, my signal was between -63 to -67 dBm. All of the channels they offer are there. Not much but that doesnt matter to me, as i dont watch all those other channels on FLLOW. They are currently testing VH1 and BET.

The Model as stated before is Coship N8102T
Image

Yes, it is made in China. It was stated before that universal remotes dont work with the box. This is the remote they provided, next to it is the FLOW remote:
Image

And the box as well next to the FLOW one:
Image

It does feel cheap compared to the Motorola one supplied by FLOW but it will do. It does get a bit hot when in use.

Here is a shot of the back panel:
Image

Nothing fancy. :)

Now on to the interface. As you'd remember, you have to press "Guide" to get the interface on FLOW.
Here is a reminder:
Image

On the GD remote, you hit EPG and you get the Guide Interface. It looks like this:
Image
To exit you press EXIT. Pressing EPG again gets you no where :(

You can check upcoming shows by using the arrows
Image

There is also the menu. There is basic configuration as well as other information. You can add opacity which was cool. Here are some images:
Image

Image

I was not too impressed by the GUI. The font is BLEH  (yes i hate that style of font) and it is not made compatible for widescreen's (so is FLOW's) so it looks a bit horrible. But besides that the interface is not bad. No lags, etc. and it does the job.

In any case, you aren't watching the EPG, its the channel and as said before it works great, not to mention saving ~$1200 for the next year.

They are looking to add more channels. I hope that they keep up their good, quality service.

For the price you get what you pay for and it's on par with Flow's digital tv service.

Anything else, feel free to ask. ;)

Regards.
