Trinidadian Daniel Ramoutarsingh breaks Track Record..Update

Postby Aaron 2NR » August 30th, 2009, 8:52 pm

ELKHART LAKE, Wisconsin (August 28, 2009) –

Rocketsports Racing’s rookie Trans-Am driver, Daniel Ramoutarsingh broke the GT1 track record today at Road America driving the #8 Trinrico Steel & Wire Products Jaguar XKR.

The Trinidadian is there with fellow teammate Tomy Drissi and the entire Rocketsports Racing crew as they participate in this weekend’s Chicago Region SCCA Kettle Moraine National event in preparation for the 2009 Muscle Milk SCCA Trans-Am Series season finale at Road America , September 20.

Posting a time of 2:07.949 (113.895 mph / 183.702 kph), Ramoutarsingh shatters the previous track record of 2:08.396 (113.498 mph / 183.062 kph) set by Tony Ave in a Chevy Corvette during competition at this same event back in 2007.

“I love this place – it is absolutely a beautiful track. I have been told that it is the finest track in North America and I have to say it is definitely one of the best I have seen. My team has been awesome. From the time we unloaded the car we have been fast. We are really working hard. Our pace of improvement is just incredible. I know I could have done a little better, but it is only my second day here and I am still working on it. Track conditions today weren’t great and I had to pick my way through slower traffic. I know that there is more time in the car if I can get a clean lap tomorrow in qualifying.â€

Great to see a local race car driver making it big out there! Sad to see that the Gov't may not even recognise Daniel's achievements nor do anything for more local Motorsports. Congrats Daniel!

Special Thanks I guess for the Government of the day in playing such a crucial role in the development of motor sport in this country.

and everyone continues to watch usane bolt and his record breaking wins and wish that trinidad produce such fine sportsmanship while all along these guys are doing the country proud without the slightest shred of consideration of any kind. Motorsport in this country is in a really bad way.
