Dex at Drags SATURDAY OCTOBER 4TH Come and support

Postby Yorkshirelass » September 27th, 2008, 8:37 pm

CARS working in conjunction with Autosport have finalised the plans for the charity drag racing event at camden raceway to raise funds for Jameer Ali. We are encouraging ALL dex drivers to lend their support and come and get a 1/4 mile time on Saturday 4th which will start at 1pm. Scrutineering for dex cars will be from 12pm.
Helmets and fire extinguishers are mandatory (check Banzai for rentals for those that don't have )

For Solodex members and drivers the cost is $150.00 which will get you 2 entry passes and as many runs as you can.

Cars will be grouped according to their dex classes and the winner of each class will move forward into a shoot out based on a dial up system and there will be a trophy (and bragging rights!!) for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

The first part of the EVO subaru challenge will also take place on this day dont miss out on this exciting action

Sounds great, ASPL and CARS working together - should be a well organised event!!! What's the entry fee for spectators?
Would love to attend this, but I have always had concerns about parking my car at Camden after going to the 1st drag event there, and then reading and hearing about all the thefts and break ins at every event thereafter at that location.
Would anything be different with regards to parking there on this day? I saw pics of the "circuit" event there on Republic Day, and it seems cars were parked along the length of the track - dunno if this is an option.
If not, are people at least able to park where they can see their car (pit pass or something?), and if so how much would this be??
Not trying to bash - would really like to attend and support this event, but just want to ensure my car is still intact when I'm ready to leave.
Thanks :!:

I don't know what these guys will do but at TTASA's event last Saturday you were allowed to park close to the pits. They were charging extra to park there but i cant remember how much.

there is no shame, you will run in class and the times should be close.

Also remember this event is for a good cause and that is the main focus

Questions asked above will be discussed and feedback given shortly.

The Cause is a fund Raising Drag Racing Event for the weekend.

I have been asked by Jameer to work with him in coordinating the competition and drum up as much support. So I have asked the other disciplines for their support and I believe that this will be fully supported by all who can possibly do so.

CARS has jumped in with their full backing, so we are planning to have as many Dex cars participate in their own competition on Saturday.

For some time now there were plans afoot to have a Subaru / Evo shootout. The first part is now being coordinated with Barry M. and Ryan P. alo o Saturday (4th) and more info. will be posted shortly.

Also getting the support from Karting with some shifters and 100cc drivers already committed. (Not sure if some will remember Shamo with his shifter putting some serious licks on a fully prepared Drag car on the South track) But don’t worry, the Karts will be running in their own competition.

And I know that some of the Rally cars will be coming to take a shot. And we may really find out who claiming that their car is a real 13 or 14 seconds winner, what the real score is.

Remember the 150 entry fee is for the Dex drivers and the evo subaru shootout and that competition is on saturday. I think the sunday price is 200. Autosport can confirm this.

The Solodex competitors and Evo – Subaru shootout will take place on Saturday.

Scrutineering will be done on Saturday from 1:00 pm, with free runs to all registered competitors, and then the competition for the Dex cars, and Evo – Subaru shootout.

One of the major problems faced in running off the competition is the late arrival of competitors. So there will be scrutineering on Saturday for all competitors, and we wish to try to confirm the correct brackets for all competitors as possible.

All competitors scrutineered on Saturday must report back (not necessarily for re-scrutineering) to the scrutineer on Sunday. He will have all of the registration forms. At 12:30 pm on Sunday, only those competitors who have checked in with the scrutineer will be considered for competition.
Some more answers.

The $20.00 spectator fee on Saturday is for the spectator areas, not the pit.

There will be no charge for Parking for spectators on Saturday, just outside the competition area on the south side, behind the bleachers, not in the pit area.

Competitors registered to compete in the Dex competition or Subaru - Evo shootout will be welcome to come back on Sunday with their competitor wristbands.

Rental fee's are as follows: Open Face - $55 plus DP. Close face $65 plus DP.

you leaveyour DP with the rental fee. Go have you r fun. When ready to leave you return Helmet and you get back your DP.

Once i have you r DP i wil lnot leave the facility.

All helmets Sanitized before use (in rentee's presence). IF you have a Bavaclava all the better.

PM to book. I have 3 open face remaining and 4 close face.

Competitors registered to compete in the Dex competition or Subaru - Evo shootout will be welcome to come back on Sunday with their competitor wristbands.

So if i register on saturday to be part of the DEX shoot out I will be able to run on sunday once i dont take off my wristband??

Can anyone register to be part of the DEX shootout or is it only the regulars that come dex everytime?? Ive been at dex twice on the fun run level :|

Event sounds nice!

Dex competitors will be classified according to your normal grouping in Dex competition.

The winner from each group will then be run off against each other in a dial-up competition. So there is quite a possibility that a 19 seconds car can win the Dex competition against all comers, and start to shout louder than Ignis

AutoSport,
and most likely the auto would be more consistent in dialup as well.
