Engine management recommendation?!

Postby Z Tourer vtec » February 24th, 2008, 12:29 pm

I want to make more power out of a N/A 2zzge, what can you recommend?

I dont necessary need to adjust vvtl-i lift point but must be able to control timing.

Any thoughts?

depends on what exactly u want to do with the car.....for most proper low boost NA-turbo conversions i'd think a GReddy Emanage blue.

i'm looking for better engine response mainly and about 20-30 whp. I've heard that I should be able to achieve close to 40 whp, but i'll wait to see that.

The Emanage Ultimate would be a better option. It's possible that PnP harnesses may also be available (from either Greddy or other companies) proving that the ECU hookup is similar to that of the Celica's.

IIRC the new software updates also carry support for the 2ZZ-GE. Not sure if there's a diff between US and JDM accessibility though.

Haltech for 40HP, hell no. What do you have on the engine right now mod-wise? Meaning intake, headers, cams, advanced timing, plugs, bigger throttle, bigger MAF, exhaust, intake manifold? All these items can give you more response and HP as well, these are bolt on parts that can get more than an increase, it all depends what you want and how much you are willing to spend.

only the haltech users recommend haltech.......cuz they could afford it

and it aint exactly cheap cuz Prentice is the dealer :|

Knight1, i didnt say ultimate cuz the ultimate, to me, was always for the most serious tuners who just didnt want to go to stand alone........while the blue is more for the average guy who wants a 50-60% increase..........thats my take on it

Thanks
I was leaning towards the ultimate but figured it would have been overkill for a N/A tune...so I am gonna venture towards the blue.

Before I buy one brand new, does anyone have a sec hand to sell ?

I think i've seen a few second hand emanage blues in the parts forum before. Not sure if they're still there now.

I think further to when we talked i checked out some of the other us forums and some people were using Camcon and Emanage Blue to tune. I think RS200 was looking at Engine management options for his altezza. I'm not sure if he finalised on a solution but I know he was looking at similar options...including Camcon.
