SR20VE - ECU upgrade

Postby Stuckindmud » November 27th, 2007, 1:25 pm

WTK ,

what is involved in an ECU swap? cutting harness etc , and how easy it will be to return to stock?

What can be used to remove the top end limiter on these?

with a daughter board it is as simple as the stock ECU being modded with a daughter board on top the mother board with a cable attached to read from the new daughter chip
most of them are socketted and therefore mean stock cannot be returned to very easy

you can use SLD's to remove speed cuts

^^^ thanks dude

Dave youhadda go a lil bit slower - whats an SLD?

And this daughter board , if it fits to the original ECU , will itbe assimple as getting an original unmodded ECU and plug it backin?

How is drivability and economy affected by these simple mods?

Dude if its power you looking for do ecu last
Intake, header, exhaust, cams from the 20v version, RPM switch to lower the VVl activation point would push you well past 200hp then if you have the money let JWT program your ecu based on your current mods

SLD-speed limit defender, removes speed cut basically
the daughter board is contained in the ecu and the cable is fixed to the mother board and thus removal is not as easy
you can always remove the ecu and get a stock one to return to stock settings

Dude if its power you looking for do ecu last

Young uninformed one, lol
An ECU always adds to whatever mods you add on in the future
It is one of the most expensive but most effect when adding mods later on and since most expensive always left for last or never done

most speed shops have them
greedy and hks makes them, little unit aprox 1"x5"
simple 5-6wire hook up
basically intercepts the signal coming from the speed sensor to the ecu

the SLD function is to remove the speed cut from any ecu controlled car but there are different units for manual and auto vehicles

^^ Nice ..
ok so what is the first step to modifying a setup like this?
SLD , and FCD simultaneously? then the other hardware stuff?

Also , A/F controlers , will that be useful if the ecu is capable of doing the adjustment itself?

Installing the SR20VE Mines ECU on SR20VE married CVT tiptronic...simple plug and play? or need to be tuned for what the ECU asks for?

It's a plug and play system but it will ping a lot if your using super gasoline.
