No Redline?

What would cause a manual car to not reach its redline/rev limit... No matter the gear? About 700rpm less the redline!

Mileage about 60k... Original manual... Normal Intake & Exhaust Mods nothing more!

why would you want to carry it to redline?

its redline/rev limit


you answered your own question, your brainbox has a rev limiter, presuming it's not a box lancer you are talkign about.

ECU map is ECU map irrespective of what tranny is used

Original Manual!

Car use to run up to its rev limit which is 8,500rpm... Now it sticks at 7,800 no matter what gear ur in!

Only mods were done are CAI and Catback exhaust! Exhaust is a lil big but that shouldn't affect top end?

ok, u did u check ur Fuel Pressure?

what abt plugs?

Yes on both counts... Also installed autometer oil pressure gauge!

An air filter (cone type) did brake and some pieces were sucked into the intake! Doh ask me how that happen!

Spoke to a mech yesterday... he said it sounded like an ECU prob!
ECU happeneds to be one the the things not checked as yet along with engine internals!

hope something isnt wrong with ur ecu...cause i sure thats gonna be difficult to get a replacement

could something be wrong with the gearbox itself?

are u able to reach redline in neutral?

so in Neutral, if it not limiting, How much RPM it reaching too?

7,800rpm in neutral as in gear!

Stock ECU... ECU was also re-flashed (so i was told)

The fuel pressure wasn't checked.

This is what have been done so far:-
Changed: fuel filter, spark plugs & coil packs.
Checked: oil pressure, mivec solenoid, re-set ecu, clean injectors & TB.

when u get some time, check ur Fuel pressure, Maybe the pump not supplying sufficient fuel @ hi rpm....

i dunno what is the required psi it supposed to be...

you should also check the timing and the TPS settings... hadf this same problem with a MIVEC sometime ago and that fixed it... some jokey mechanic had set the timing too high...

Changed ECU and fuel pump... Only getting 8,000rpm
Was previously getting 7,800rpm... Mind u redline starts 8,200 and rev limit 8,500!

what exhaust mods were done?...this might be your problem....

2.5" Exhaust from down pipe... Exhaust is 0.25" too big but that wun't cause that prob?

I really was looking at the ECU...
Now I really don't know! Maybe fuel?
