yea I would be very cautious of extrapolating from social media because it is very easy for one person to have twenty or thirty accounts (all with different names and pictures to match whatever messaging they want). There is also a big group of youth that is very loud but doesn't actually show up to vote.

I go by size of in-person meetings and walkabouts. It much harder to fake that, even with free doubles and soup and so on.

People who do go those events in-person also do tend to vote, if only to get more bligh down the line.

Kamla say she mother was of the lowest caste and then went to list out the sort of jobs she had to do to survive. Roti maker, seamtress, market vendor etc

That is how she see people doing those jobs? As low caste and low class people?

The mud slinging has begun! The one whose the most desperate is the one whose going to throw the most mud in an attempt to score cheap political points. Just look out to see whose the most desperate and you'll know.

That's the weird position PNM is currently in they haven't done much in the past 10 years. So what will they campaign on? It's not performance as I heard the same MP asking why the schools and roads are the way they are in yet they forget PNM was in charge. Can't make promises as ppl would be like so why wasn't this done 10 years ago. Anyway it have 7000 dotish ppl voted last time.

in the Indian social system, women of lower society can marry up. It is up to the upper castes to accept the lower status of the women.

PUBLIC Utilities Minister Colm Imbert is pleased with his new ministerial responsibilities after serving as finance minister for the past two terms.

Imbert also said a PNM victory at the polls on April 28 does not mean the population can expect an immediate increase in water rates.

Roger Alexander quits TTPS: Tipped to be General Election candidate

The Express has confirmed that Roger Alexander has resigned from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, and is tipped to be a candidate for the United National Congress.

There is speculation that he be contesting the Tunapuna seat being held by the incumbent Peoples National Movement's candidate Edmond Forde.

Tunapuna is considered one the marginal seats that will decide who wins the April 28 General Election.

"Ask Kamla (Persad-Bissessar, the political leader of the UNC)" Alexander said when asked by the Express about his potential candidacy.

In the August 10, 2020 general election, there were nine constituencies that had margins of victory of less than 2,000.

These are: St Joseph (823); Barataria/San Juan (1,060); Moruga/Tableland (1,072); Chaguanas East (1,086); Tobago East (1,262); Pointe-a-Pierre (1,212); San Fernando West (1,705); La Horquetta/Talparo (1,921); and Tunapuna (1,927).

Alexander was a former host of the Beyond the Tape programme on TV-6, now hosted by journalist Mark Bassant.
