The most recent news articles I've seen actually indicated that there wasn't any sign of a CO leak according to fire officials, which has me a bit more curious. As you said, autopsies should shed a bit more light.

Apparently they was dead for weeks. As bodies was decomposing Wife was found in bathroom with pills all over and her hands was partially mummified

Authorities seem to be starting to look at it as foul play, by someone the victims knew, because of some things that point in that direction.
So here what they're looking at.

Adult German shepherd locked in closet (dog was probably familiar with the assailant)
Wife dead in bathroom (assailant probably took her out first)
Husband dead in mudroom with phone and cane close to the body (indicative that it's likely he was trying to get out to save himself and call for help, but being old and slow assailant got to him before he could get to the door).
Bodies dead for at least 2 weeks, and found by maintenance personnel.
2 immediate relatives who were supposedly very close to the victims, especially the male, made no attempts during that time to contact the victims.
Said 2 immediate relatives went out together on the day the victims were discovered and after the discovery made the news, but didn't contact authorities until much later.

This gonna be a messy case

Imagine you not in yuh right head, confused af for days, an when you get lucid first thing yuh see is yuh spouse been dead in the house with you for days.

I just glad it didn't go in the direction police were thinking. That would have been effed up
