Payless Shoes for Carnival. Thoughts?

Postby jsm1985 » February 26th, 2025, 12:15 pm

Looking to get some good sneakers to play J'ouvert/ Mas (will get 2 pairs because they would probably be destroyed with mud after J'ouvert).

Any thoughts on price, style and comfort? Not looking to spend too much (not more than $1000 for 2 pairs) . I particularly like the below style I saw on their Facebook page:

I saw those, but a couple people I know who bought those shoes didn't last more than 1 or 2 wears. Very poor quality.

Rugged outback trail running shoes from Payless will get the job done. After carnival, you can pick up hiking as a hobby.Win Win

Forget FIAL and Payless. Go sketchers. If you plan to chip / stay long hours on your feet, and you cherish your feet and knees (especially when you get old), make sure and get something with memory foam soles. You will not regret it.

Skechers didn't have any sizes in the styles I wanted. I went to Payless and got what I wanted, they had BOGO 50% off. Super comfortable!!!

Are the airwalks from Payless durable like the older ones?
Always loved an airwalk!
Didn't Payless also have kangaroos at a time?
Those back in the days were very good!
Always has some 25c pieces in them lol.

They are durable.I have a pair of the converse type Airwalks from Payless for a couple of months now.
It would however be very strange to see a pair of Airwalks walking by themselves, because....
Dave's not here!

Payless airwalk hard like brick, dunno if its a different brand or special product line made for them, but it's not close to the airwalks I had before

The good thing about Payless is the warranty - 30 days. I had an issue long time ago and they changed the shoe no questions asked. Been going strong since!

Bought my son an Airwalk from Payless last year to run around with (school shoes are white only). He complained it hurt his feet.
He can wear the Reebok's I buy for school for him all day with no issues though.

I also bought him the all white LA Gears from Payless for school and each instance they only lasted one term.

New "old" shoes. don't we have local companies that specialize in doing this. Call names and I would whistle.

Standard cheap shoes deal. I have a pair of airwalk slip-ons going on almost 3 years now. It's sturdy but you need to use additional insoles or your feet are doomed. I didn't realize it because of WFH I wear my sneakers for less than an hour daily and most of it is from driving, not walking.

Then there's the fine print on Payless boxes about the respective brands being licensed to Payless. I think it's like aftermarket parts being passed off as OEM.

You know the old people in here. Those young ones wouldn’t understand what you mean by having [emoji6] cent pieces in your kangaroos.

It's standard brand licensing as most companies do: the brands contract with Payless (or any other manufacturer) to develop, manufacture and brand using approved guidelines for quality control, branding, visuals, etc. This does not mean that its being passed off as something less than at all.

^^Good to know.

Anybody knows anyone who bought from Farfetch? I see their ads regularly on FB. I want a Reebok pump bad, but I feel like the service is too good to be true.

I bought a couple Versace items a couple years ago. They were original authentic. Good service.
