Reason why i brought a genuine Starbucks is for the craftsmanship and as an investment time peice. A used Starbucks is over $12500US to $15k . A retail one from the AD is $10400US thats if u can get one.
As u can see the used ones are more that the retail, thats an investment.
Replicas come in various grades, i have seen a $1000 rolex replica and unless if ur a dealer or watch maker u cant tell the difference. But try selling it and get maybe 200us
I actually brought a Seiko 5 from Jomashop.alfa wrote:zoom rader wrote:MaxPower wrote:Average Trinis only know about Movado and Rado. Its ok to buy a replica , i have been tempted to buy replicas.X_Factor wrote:Really nice watch

There's also something called grey market watches which are 100% genuine but not from the authorized dealer. One popular site for those is Jomashop. Bought a citizen watch a decade ago from them at almost half the price, still going strong

Was about to give up untill i got an email saying they have it. Never thought i would get if after hearing tales of how difficult to get especially the Starbucks model
Capleton wrote:Nice a watch thread, I'm also into watches, but my lil collection is not that big or expensive. In recent times I've been looking at automatics that are relatively cheap and a bit quirky. Some of my favourites in my lil collection are:

- Vostok Amphibia
- Orient Bambino
Yes they do have stock, but they limit their first time owners in their store due to resellers. They have you playing the waiting game to weed out resellers.Val wrote:zoom rader wrote:Authorised dealer, 9mnts wait, first owner.eliteauto wrote:Did you pay the manufacturer or secondary market price? Don't let them fool you, they have inventory. They just try to push you around with the new Certified Preowned program, and to drive up prices with artificial scarcity.
I see someone here was trying to sell a Zelos Aurora Moonphase for 16k, people wicked yes. Happy to sell my Aurora for half that

Only issue is u get no warranty from Jomashop.
Jomashop buy surplus from other dealers in bulk that's how they have cheaper prices. So they are grey market dealers buy new in box

Just to clarify. When you purchase from Jomashop you do obtain a warranty.
The catch though; is that the warranty is provided by Jomasop and not the original manufacturer in most cases.
Jomashop warranties are now automatically registered when you purchase a watch. Manufacturer warranties (companies listed below) may still require manual warranty registration.
Jomashop.com will service every brand name watch sold on our website for a period of 1 to 5 years after purchase (see chart for exceptions). Watches that have symptoms of abnormally gaining time, losing time, or not keeping proper time will be serviced under our warranty program. Our warranty does not cover "external damage" to the product.

Was lil skeptical to ship an item for $2500usd but was a last minute Xmas gift.

I cant see myself with a Patek, thats around 25k US for the cheapest. One of my offshore pal have one, he got a work bonus of £30k and brought one. In those days i was buying property.
Really glad people know about watches
Gamblers do rock watches, but they wear them short term. They normally go broke and sell them to recoupe loses.X_Factor wrote:zoom rader wrote:Bro, thats out of my league and on another level. I don't even know if any trinis have a Patek or AP.MaxPower wrote:Z,

AP and PP knocking dog here.
Lots of VC, JLC, Roger Dubuis, Romaine Jerome etc etc.
Those are flex watches that everyone knows, but I spot real enthusiasts when they wear those obscure independents and micros (think Ming, Minase, Parmigiani Fleurer, Behrens which do exist here etc.).

Great collection, a Hamilton Khaki would round it out nicely.
You've got a chrono, diver and dress, just the field and you're good (and hopefully done lol, else you would end up spending a ton in a downward spiral of watch addiction).
