Trudeau folds...
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Canada will commit to a $1.3 billion border plan, which will include "reinforcing the border with new choppers, technology and personnel, enhanced coordination with our American partners, and increased resources to stop the flow of fentanyl."

that article calls for reforms to ensure safer work conditions for immigrant workers
But would the injury rate decrease if immigrants are removed?
I would hazard a guess that it would. Documented workers would have greater legal rights. USA is the land of the lawsuit after all and Tyson Foods probably wouldn't want to pay out millions for lost fingers.

Canada next?
If the labour market for meat packing is truly free market the conditions should improve as the labour supply falls and companies have difficulties in manning factoriesDuane 3NE 2NR wrote:Dizzy28 wrote:Duane 3NE 2NR wrote:Dizzy28 wrote:The case study of undocumented workers in the meat processing industry is probably a good case for not letting US industries have access to those workers. What about the 50-70% of the documented workers that are there?

He's using it as leverage to pressure them into making concessions just like he did in 2018.

No country can beat China in any trade war.SuperiorMan wrote:China imposes 15% tariffs on coal, LNG in response to Trump's tariffs
Good. Less reliance on China....maybe greater investment in renewables thus becoming more resilient in the market and more trade now instead with the EU and Asia.
Hail Trump!

China has super cheap labour or near slave labour.
Depending on the region, China's official minimum wage in 2024 ranges from 1,450 to 2,690 yuan per month, equivalent to 200 to 370 U.S. dollars
