Ratan Tata Dies

Postby bluefete » October 11th, 2024, 2:34 pm

Come and learn something.

He purchased Jaguar Land Rover from Ford.

ANSA McAl once tried to sell vehicles branded with his last name in T&T. Guess what happened?

I mean, there's been instances where auto manufacturers had to rename vehicles in some markets because the localized meaning of the name was unflattering, but TaTa was the brand. Man was making power moves up to 2 years before his passing too, n***a damn.

Were the vehicles any good though?

You have been around for a while so I will be gentle. I never mentioned LADA

ANSA McAl had the dealership to sell TATA vehicles in T&T via Diamond Motors.

Petrogas Ltd. had the dealership to sell LADA cars! Talk done!

Tata trucks, pickups and SUVs were sold in Trinidad by the local Mitsubishi dealer from 1996-2001. The Indian-built workhorses were popular , but their low price and rugged build were overshadowed by a lack of spares and service. Tata was pulled from the market after a plummet in sales.

yeah working vehicles
precursor to h100 k2700
and there may have still been a gap when not many such vehicles were available on market after tata left

if the company did a proper job of spare parts maybe they would have been around a lot longer

Every conglomerate has its dark secrets. Tata was good but he had his moments-
Tata Corporation and Rattan Tata was involved in Bhopal (world's worst ever industrial disaster), an illegal taped convo which implicated Tata in funding terror outfits in Assam, coal mining where indigenous groups were forcibly moved out of lands, steel plants where people died in security crackdowns initiatied by Tata etc etc.

that's true. i didn't know about the union carbide connection though. tata's sins however, and i not trying to play devil's advocate, pale in comparison to many if not most of the old conglomerates. Chiquita inc funded paramilitaries in colombia that murdered thousands of people. volkswagen and porsche were direct beneficiaries of nazism.
