Unfortunately that's part of the dumb system. Take your gun after a defensive shooting and leave you vulnerable when he pest friends make a tack back

That don't apply here. Brace is supposed to be a way to circumvent the laws on short barreled rifles in the US to have it reclassified as a pistol.
Locally variation is simply an application to own another firearm or to carry more rounds for the same one

2 points to note
1- a brace is an accessory, not a firearm
2- this ain't murica, ATF and their policies have absolutely zero meaning or effect here

They use it as a regular stock if the firearm came with it but was originally designed for disabled people to shoot one handed. Seen some 22 rifles with it locally

Orr nah that's something different. That's actually a micro Roni pistol stock. Plenty estate police moving with that now.
Brace is just a floppy gun butt with an opening to fit around your firearm and a Velcro strap to secure it to same

Correct

Edit

IMHO, that device don't make sense unless your intention is to turn a concealable pistol into one you can't conceal for either the gallery or intimidation factor, or if you really can't shoot worth a wooden shilling.
But

Put a 12 inch barrel in said pistol and put it in that Roni and watch the magic

A proper roni like accessory could work well for home defense...seeing as invasions are now 5 or more folks generally.

Nope
Unless that device increases your mag capacity x5, converts your pistol to full auto and guarantees laser-like precision hits on target every single time, it yields zero advantage in a close quarters gunfight.

As pugboy said, better get a shotgun, but I'll suggest one thing if using a shotty
1st round buck, second round either slug or cut-shell, and do that till full.

I dare you to show me a man that take a 2&3/4 12 gauge shotgun shell loaded with a solid slug or heavy cut-shell to torso from 18 feet (which is bigger than most rooms in most houses) and talk about the experience after.
That shite gonna turn a chest into canoe, and hearing the report alone everybody else gone

Don't need a short barreled shotgun. It's to keep in yuh house. The barrel length have no benefit other than portability and concealment, and inside yuh house neither of those matter.
Fun fact
You know a short barreled shotgun isn't as efficient as a standard 18" barrel right?
If you absolutely MUST have a compact shotgun, there's always the option to go bullpup. Best of both worlds business
