La Brea police are probing the violent robbery of a La Brea pensioner at his home on Friday night.

Police said Westcar “Doc” Abraham, 74, reported that around 6 pm, he locked all the doors and windows at his home. As he lay on his couch watching television around 9 pm, two dark men wearing black and grey masks, one armed with a knife, broke down his wooden front door and announced a robbery.

The bandits then demanded that he hand over the keys to his silver Nissan Wingroad station wagon, valued at $53,000.

They then tied up Abraham with his bedsheet and curtain and stole his Samsung A23 mobile phone valued at $1,800, Samsung Stereo set valued at $2,000, a weed wacker valued at $3,000, a grinder valued at $800 and two bank cards.

The bandits escaped with the loot in Abraham’s station wagon. PC Alexis, PC Samlal, PC Moreno and WPC Villafana-Ashby responded and began inquiries.

In another incident, Point Fortin police are probing a house break-in where bandits got away with approximately $300,000 in jewellery.

Police said the 61-year-old victim locked all doors and windows to his home at Fanny Village around 5.25 pm Thursday and left.

He returned around 9 pm and discovered the front door glass on the southern side of his home broken. He checked inside and found his entire home ransacked and a quantity of jewellery consisting of gold bayras, chains, pendants and diamond rings missing. The man told police that no one had permission to remove them.

W/Cpl Joseph, PC Sheppard, WPC Blaze and PC George visited the scene but did not find workable fingerprints or CCTV footage around the area.

A family was assaulted and robbed at their home in 8 and ¾ mile mark, Main Road, Talparo on Tuesday 25th June, 2024.
• Around 6:00am, a man was tending to his chickens at his farm near his home, when he was accosted by six men, two of which were armed with a cutlass and a gun.
• The suspects announced a robbery and two of the men took the victim inside the home where they met other relatives.
• The suspects then placed the victims to lie on the ground before they demanded them to hand over their cash and valuables.
• One of the male victims attempted to fight off one of the suspects, when one of the armed men began shooting, luckily no one was injured.
• Residents of the area heard the loud explosions and went to investigate, causing the suspects to flee the scene.
• The police were notified and investigations are ongoing.

Two women were robbed of TT and US currency, shortly after they returned to their home in Arouca from visiting a commercial bank in Trincity on Tuesday.

One of the victims, a 55-year-old woman with dual citizenship, was also robbed of her US passport and driver’s licence. The other is a 41-year-old Curepe resident.

Around 12.30 pm on Tuesday, the women had just entered the house at Rainbow Crescent, Arouca, and were sitting in the kitchen when they were accosted by two men who announced a hold-up.

The bandits ordered them to lie on the ground and robbed them of their handbags, which contained medication, a US passport, a pressure tester, US$2,000, two pairs of gold earrings, bank cards, US driver’s permits and a white envelope containing $22,000.

The suspects escaped in a waiting vehicle.

Investigations are continuing.
