Tourists are generally advised to avoid Fort George when visiting Trinidad because it's not deemed safe.

During the COVID time I went up that side, took the ol Hilux up Cumberland hill. That's where all the broadcast towers are, close to fort George I believe and great views. Lonely as hell, wouldn't recommend now though

Was up there Jan 21st and it was still closed. Tried to finesse the watchman to let us in but he said there's cameras installed now. You can reach the rock via the path to the left if you're feeling adventurous but the whole area at road level is pretty well fenced off.

Udecott was doing work since 2020 and it still hasn't opened back? I sure they actually done long time but government bureaucracy holding back the paperwork to open. It's the National Trust who in charge of that.

st,

Consider everywhere as unsafe and always be in large groups.

The lighthouse itself may be safe, but it’s the going to and from your vehicle, the pit stops and opening/closing your gate.

Be careful out there young man.

It normal, nothing unexpected for the area. Just be careful where you place your feet and wear good shoes. You just have to descend a little hill, walk along a rocky beach and go up the other side onto the rock. One of my friends has a shoe lift because of a short leg and he had no issues making it. Maintain a safe distance from each other when traversing the slope and use the trees/rocks as handholds when available. If you have good balance and are used to hiking it's an easy walk.
