When WWE was up for sale, many prospective buyers wanted WWE without Vince because of the allegations that came out in 2022 that he was able to quell. Only Ari from Endeavor holdings wanted Vince with WWE as both of them are friends for decades. Vince was a "controlling shareholder" of WWE and therefore had majority voting power (which was smart as he saw what happened to Ted Turner and WCW before they collapsed) so he could not be removed, and can accept or reject offers whether the wwe board likes it or not. Vince goes with Ari, WWE goes private by merging with Zuffa (UFC) to become TKO group, vince becomes executive chairman therefore more power, has no shareholders to answer too, and his "boss" Ari will just leave him alone to do what he wants.

But in reality, Ari outsmarted Vince to sell WWE to Endeavor. Ari knew allegations will come back to bite Vince and once that pops off again, yeah TKO will take a publicity hit initially but they will now have an excuse to fully remove him which is where we at now.
