Five (5) members of a family were shot dead as they slept in a mass shooting in Arima that left four others wounded.
A 10-year-old girl and four teenagers are among the victims who were declared dead at the Arima District Hospital.
They were all shot while asleep at their La Retreat Road Ext, Heights of Guanapo Arima home on Thursday 21st September 2023.

The deceased, Uncutt News Media understands, are:
1. 10-year-old Faith Peterkin
2. 17-year-old Shane Peterkin
3. 19-year-old Tiffany Peterkin
4. 17-year-old Adris Crawford.

The wounded are:
5. 18-year-old Christian Stephen
6. 25-year-old James Mohammed
7. 21-year-old Shenika Peterkin
8. 14-year-olr Arianna Peterkin
9. 14-year-old Jamiah Crawford

(We'll provide an update on which of the two wounded male victims subsequently succumbed to his injuries at the hospital)

Brief facts:

Around 12.30 am on 21.09.2023, the above-mentioned persons were all asleep at home at La Retreat Ext, Heights of Guanapo with other family members members of the family when several loud explosions were heard.

A man dressed in black with a hoodie covering his head was seen leaving the scene and escaped in some bushes.

A check was made and all persons mentioned above were found to be suffering from apparent gunshot injuries on their bodies.
Officers from the Northern Division Task Force and the Arima police along with an EHS ambulance conveyed the injured persons to the Arima Health Facility.

Four of the victims were pronounced dead on arrival and a 5th victim subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

Three of the four victims are in critical condition at the hospital at the hospital, Uncutt News Media understands.

Officers from the Special Evidence Recovery Unit (SERU) found 7 spent 9 mm shells, 13 spent 7.62 shells, 33 spent 5.56 shells, a live 9 mm shell with TTPS markings, and a live 5.56 round of ammunition.

Insp. Jugmohan, Sgt. Narace of the ND along with ASP Victor, Sgt. Forde, Cpl Gonzales, and PC Hosten of the Region 2 Homicide Bureau of Investigations were among the officers who visited the scene.

That could be the simplest explaination and most stupid move on the part of the TTDF armoury. There must be range officers to ensure that all rounds are fired off and weapons cleared safely. That's how it's done on civillian ranges. I doubt they give them several full ammo cans and just tell them go have fun.
Also I don't think anyone has the presses as well as materials like powder, projectiles and primers to reload locally.
