Missing Submarine

Postby mitsutt » June 21st, 2023, 1:06 am

Seeing this developing story with a British billionaire and 4 passengers missing underwater trying to visit the Titanic shipwreck. Not a track of them...

Lost them at abt 1.4mi depth in a 2mi dive.

It takes abt 2hrs to reach those depths.

Very little if any light and position dependant on how good you can echo locate your position.

If those echo location transponders fail...it would be very hard to find.

All that tech and they had to resort to banging on the sub.

If they had a Small 12v car battery an dynamo hooked up to some bike pedals a rockford amp with equalizer maybe a pioneer clock face deck 2 6x9s with tweeters couple 10 inch Bazookas with 5 people to power it. Could ah be blaring some Chinese laundry dub tapes.

Would find them fast with all that hard pong

to withstand 5000psi the body of that sub have to be super strong
they must be banging real hard, or part of their safety system included tools inside capable of such ponging

Ironically that almost home made sub is one of like 6 in the world that can reach that depth while military subs can't. This is what makes rescue effort more difficult

We know more about space than the depths of the ocean floor. More than 90% of the ocean floor remains a complete mystery to humans.

Guy on twitter claimed to ask his engineer dad and his dad said they likely died a quick death from implosion. Also reported elsewhere from previous trip takers was that the vessel often fell out of contact with the mother ship.

For a service designed to entice rich people, this was chock full of cut corner controversy.

You all saw the BBC article where they visited the sub a few years back? It's controlled by a Logitech game controller. It also does not have the full certifications from relevant agencies supposedly because it's build time would not tie in with approval timelines (they claim approvals stymies innovation).

So much red flags.

Yup same here

I dunno if implosion is worse or suffering trapped until death:

The submersible that went missing on its way to the wreck of the Titanic may have imploded and collapsed into pieces, an expert has told Sky News.

Dr David Gallo, who describes the Titan's pilot, Paul-Henri Nargeolet, as his "best friend", said the timeline suggests something happened "mid-water".

Contact with the vessel was reportedly lost about an hour and 45 minutes after it submerged on Sunday.

But Dr Gallo, a senior adviser with RMS Titanic Inc, noted it takes about two hours to reach the wreck.

"If they weren't there (at the wreck) that means something had to happen mid-water that caused them to lose power or radio communications," he said.

The worst case scenario is "probably a collapse - a catastrophic implosion of the sub itself which would be horrific", Dr Gallo said.

"There's no coming back from that. I would have to say that has got to be the number one option here - which is unpleasant to think about.

"I don't know how else you can disappear that quickly."

implosion much better rather than suffering without oxygen

next thing from early they realize what going on and the billionaire decide to kill the other 4 people to get more oxygen for himself while promising to pay their families a lil 100 million each for their sacrifice

The captain turned off the transponder, then depressurised the aircraft, so people basically were unconscious before the plane crashed in the Indian Ocean.

Now reading that even if somehow they resurfaced on their own, the design of the hatch was 14 bolts screwed down from the outside before they went underwater. So there is no way, no mechanism that they could open the capsule and save themselves at the surface. A retrieval craft had to always be there when they resurfaced normally.

And this billionaire was arguing against regulations and suing everybody who talked against his x-box controller Klim pan??!

Everyone is beating up about the Logitech/gaming controller, but you'd be surprised the number of real world use cases where those are used.

x2

and the company name is Oceangate - perhaps the scandal of cutting comers and ending up like this would have the same name?

It's probably a USO (Unidentified Submerged Object) yes the underwater version of a UFO.
