They may send you LO for an inspection, if its no fault of yours, they will give you an exemption

my car was actually due for inspection which is why i changed the glass. i then passed inspection with the new glass - so there shouldn't be any issues in that case?

Anyone heard whether the new tint law is actually in effect? Facebook page for the ministry was silent on it.

They coukd get on bad, once the exemption is legitimately issued, any action by them to interfere or cause interference would be unjustified, and u could win them in court.

If u remove the tint, then ur proving their point, that the exemptions are being abused.

There’s already some bobol with exemptions. I think they don’t even want to hear that you have an application inside.

I gonna redo mine too. I could do the song and dance for an exemption but…

Thanks for the update. Best I wait until I get all the weather strips for my car before changing the tint. Was wondering if I was taking a chance driving with it as is.

Can anyone recommend a good place to get a car tinted in the east (Tacarigua to Arima) area?

What type of tint is best recommended to keep the heat out and not be too dark to affect nighttime visibility?

Thanks.

^^ Take a look at IR rejecting ceramic films. They work well on building windows also.

Tint your front glass with the Llumar Air80 heatblocker tint
it is a clear slightly blue heatblocking tint

it is pricey, I paid $600 in 2015, heard around $800 now but worth every cent
your front dash wont get scorching hot anymore, just barely warm when driving.

Before I would run my ac on level 3 continuously on a hot day, hardly ever use 3 now, except when now start driving to cool down fast.

SR recommended it here.

I also tried the HS brand in similar front glass tint on another vehicle but it was not as good.

In 2021 I used Dreamworks in Tacarigua when I had to get my tint in line with the law. Really good service. They were taking appts then b/c of covid but you can give them and call and see how they are now.

LLumarTT. I would suggest the ceramic.

https://www.facebook.com/LLumarTT/
I was planning to do over my tint there. Factory tint like a gawddamn aquarium, so I want to do the darkest legal tint possible.

I called TechMotive, but their ceramic tint is very expensive.

I went with TM because the area feels safe and the vehicles are tinted in an enclosed garage at his home. He uses a Xpel ceramic tint and the highest quality is about a $4000. Pricey but good service.

Anyone know whats the latest with the Tint laws?

Think less crackdown enforcement and more of a grandfathering system.

If you go to inspect and it dark, they can blank you.
If you get caught in a RB, or random LO stop, they will ticket you.
You'll get increased compliance with less hullabaloo.

Most modern vehicle windscreens are already at the legal limit... Adding an 80 tint to it is going to push it below what is legal

nah, it is very very slight blue, almost like a longtime coca cola bottle but clearer
I have it on my vigo front glass
never been stopped by cops
cops use the obvious of stopping you because they cant see your face

Nah
The actual llumar air blue comes in under the front glass limit

I had mine tested at 2 places and both were well within the 3% variance

Of course, some vehicles will have darker glass from factory, so its best to test before and test with a sample of the tint applied

When i was doing mine at protint, the applied a piece of tint to all the glass and tested it for me to see which i was comfortable with.

I put Xpel Ceramic 70% on the windshield. Went by Techmotive. It reads about 64% as well, probably because the glass came as 90-92% from factory if you work back the maths.

how does the maths work?
if stock glass is 90%
how does it reach 64%?
