MEDIA RELEASE

Illegal Firearm Transfer- FUL, Firearms, Ammo Seized, Businessman and Driver Charged

One Firearm User’s License, 27 assorted firearms and 800 rounds of assorted ammunition were seized and two men arrested, during an intelligence-led anti-crime operation, conducted in the Southern Division between Friday 24th June, 2022 and Tuesday 28th June, 2022, related to an alleged illegal firearm transfer.

DAMIAN LAING, a 43-year-old businessman of Mayaro and also of Block 2, Palmiste, San Fernando, who was charged with transferring firearm and ammunition is scheduled to appear at the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court today.

Meanwhile, BRIAN LENDOR, a 26-year-old driver of Mayaro who was charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition and resisting arrest, appeared at the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court yesterday. Lendor pleaded guilty to the charges, was denied bail and remains in custody. The matter was postponed to July 20th, 2022.

According to police reports, on Friday 24th June, 2022, the Southern Division Operation and Intelligence Unit, along with members of the Southern Division Task Force, proceeded to a restaurant located at South Park, San Fernando, where extensive surveillance was paid to patrons at the said establishment. A male patron was arrested and subsequently charged for being in possession of a Smith and Wesson bodyguard .380 pistol and seven rounds of .380 ammunition. The 26-year-old driver is not the holder of a Firearm User’s License or a Firearm User’s (Employee Certificate).

As a result of that arrest, a meticulous and coordinated investigation was led by Insp. Phillip and Sgt. Wilkinson of the Southern Division Criminal Investigation Department (CID) into the ownership of the aforementioned firearm and ammunition. This resulted in the arrest of a second suspect, Damian Laing, who was subsequently charged by Sgt. Wilkinson for the offence of transferring the said firearm and ammunition to Brian Lendor, his driver.

Further investigations resulted in the FUL and quantities of assorted firearms and assorted ammunition being found and seized at the home of a relative of one of the accused.

The exercise was coordinated by Snr. Supt. Winchester, ASP Jaikaran and Insp. Phillip and supervised by Sgt. Williams and Sgt. Wilkinson and executed by officers of the Southern Division Operations and Intelligence Unit.

if he have papers for the 27 guns they will have to give him back
most they could do is revoke

they must have been tracking him based on how those 27 papers were signed off

WHY WAS A MULTI MILLION DOLLAR FAMILY CAUGHT WITH 27 FIREARMS???

Director of Laing Sandblasting & Painting Co. Ltd. and Equipment Rentals DAMIAN LAING along with his driver/friend Brian Lendor were both arrested at a pub in South Park Mall located in San Fernando for gun related charges.

Laing claimed he wanted to use the restroom so he gave Lendor his Smith and Wesson bodyguard .380 pistol and seven rounds of .380 ammunition to keep while he went to use said restroom. Both men did not know they were under surveillance the Southern Division Operation and Intelligence Unit, along with members of the Southern Division Task Force.

Both Laing and Lendor were arrested, futher investigations would take the police to another of the Laing family member where one Firearm User’s License, 27 assorted firearms and 800 rounds of assorted ammunition were seized. Investigators would also find it strange that while Laing and Lendor were in custody two high ranking police officers would each make calls to the station where the men were held and demand the they be released.

Investigators are also trying to figure out why would the Laing family need so much firearms as their security detail can provide that for them. In 2017 Gregory Laing who is the owner of puff n stuff bakery in San Fernando was kidnapped, after a ransom was paid he was released. Investigations into these matters are still ongoing, police are still trying to find out more about the guns seized at the business man's home.

43 yr old Damian Laing of Mayaro and also of Block 2, Palmiste, San Fernando appeared in the San Fernando court today charged with transferring firearm and ammunition. The matter was postponed to July 20th, 2022.

lot of them puddle weld bolts or pieces of steel upright straight thru the decking onto the ibeam
so the decking and concrete held down together

otherwise the concrete could theoretically lift off the decking

Burglars tied the hands and feet of a security guard at a Tacarigua funeral home before ransacking the building.
The thieves pried open a safe located in one of the offices at the funeral home and stole $11,200, a $1,300 cash payment for a tent rental, $200 cash and a cheque for $5,400.
They also stole two envelopes that contained earrings before making their escape.
Arouca police are continuing investigations.

Vandals struck the Water and Sewerage Authority Thicke Village Booster Station overnight on Wednesday 29th June 2022, disabling the facility as the electrical cables were stolen.

The Authority strongly condemns this senseless act of vandalism, which has left approximately 40,000 persons across parts of Siparia and Penal, without a pipe borne water supply.

Caught on camera a man appeared to have gone berserk on the streets of San Fernando today as he was seen pelting stones at a grocery. Before the police arrived the bareback man approached an armed security guard and began dancing in front of him. His car was left unattended in the centre of the street, idling with the doors open.

She creating a lot of bacchanal rather than take pics and go to the police station. I thought she was a police the way she talking and riling up those violent men up in a volatile situation. What she really trying to accomplish here at this exact point?

Right and dead is not a good choice.

U can't win d battle if you are in their turf. They would feel they are stronger than u. Home vs visitors. Both sides brought up their child card? Who does really say license and insurance? I thought was only police.
Charge everybody day yes..including the lady. She escalated the situation.

I agree ..avoid all this by taking jus the plate...but chance are the plate could be fake too.

Very sad situation ...could have been dead.
