Anyone know why 106.5 Akashvani stopped broadcasting?

Postby fallen_angel » May 1st, 2022, 8:36 am

Does anyone know why this station changed and if they will ever go back to how it was? How can we get it back?

They were the only radio station that broadcasted their particular style, they had their niche, and it is difficult to understand why they would shut down when they were so unique.

It is painful and frustrating to listen to the other stations with their endless meaningless hype, ranting, and raving, and there is no radio station left for a lot of people to listen to now. Sometimes you never know what you have until it is gone.

Radio in general is pretty saturated. the Guardian Media Group also has a fair amount of stations. Must be pretty hard to get advertising dollars

Radio tempo was rebranded to Vibe CT 105 FM
It's part of the Guardian Media network

"The station first started broadcasting on New Years Day, 1 January 1991 as Radio Tempo 105FM but was later rebranded as Vibe CT 105.1, the first Station in T&T to offer an all formatted local music content. The station also touts as being the sports leader as it broadcasts live the majority of the sporting events taking place in the region."

I understand what you mean this crap happening all over. New York City’s last country radio station 94.7 stopped broadcasting and rebranded “The Block” a red government type radio station where they broadcast rap and hip hop throwbacks from the 90’s and 2000’s all day long. If Trump was in power they would never dare do that.

As long as they don’t mess with the only NYC AM station I listen to “1010 WINS” I good

Radio in this country is a hard game, as mentioned previously, the market is saturated.
And when you keep in mind that most radio stations depend primarily on revenue generated by ads, and the radio advertising has market been dominated by a few of the most popular stations for some time now, and the number of clients that would advertise on the radio opting for cheaper means of promoting their business, it's a miracle that many local stations ain't collapse yet.

The fact that the genre of music on 106 is a dying one didn't help either. Not to many people listening to justify advertising on that station I guess

Smooth Jazz CD 101.9FM was the BEST! Gone to make way for rubbish.

Nice to see 1010 WINS still around.

It will have some that don't have an online stream. There are some who ONLY do online stream.

The actual air broadcast list will be who TATT give permission to here:
