Situations to look out for while driving

Postby aaron17 » March 23rd, 2022, 2:01 pm

I am creating this post to show and outline my experiences of driving on the road. Maybe you know this already but its to inform what to look out for in these situations.

This one is on a main road with traffic on the opposite lane leaving a small gap for the car on the side road to come out. As being the yellow car, its really hard to see because you assume that it’s a line of cars. So with traffic on that side and side roads , be careful of driving in that situation.

Yeah, a car parked on the shoulder on the highway. You have to keep an eagle eye on them because they can come out at any time…signal or no signal….from a stand still. I am pretty sure they can come up to speed on the shoulder and merge on the highway. But nooo..they wanna just merge out jus soo…

Yes very good . Basically for new drivers a lot of defense driving techniques . Especially surveying all of your mirrors every few seconds when driving . Left and right side view mirrors with the back view also

Drivers with left indicator on, but swinging right. And vice versa
Drivers who turn veer left to pull over, but suddenly decide to pull into a street/property on the right.
Pothole dodgers who rather hit you head on than eat a busted shock.
Line overtakers who cut in front of you.
People who don't understand the concept of a line of cars to enter the onramp (like by Sando Tech), but rather drive past all the traffic and try to squeeze a spot
People who stop on narrow roads and fling open their doors without any care for passing drivers.
Highway squeezers who try to fit into any sized gap between you and the person in front, despite being nowhere else to go.
look out for cyclists, pedestrians, dogs, cats, children. Errant and otherwise.

Look out for police with the speed gun. They does be hiding watching out looking for kants.
Look out for kants that flash lights on the opposite side of the road warning other kants that police ahead.

1) When changing lanes, do not solely rely on your mirrors before executing the lane change. Unless you have one of those newer vehicles with blind spot lane assistance, take a quick glance over your shoulder to ensure that a vehicle (especially a motorcycle) is not in your blind spot.

2) Those idiots with the super bright white headlights who also decide to change the indicator bulbs to those white LED bulbs. In the night, you can hardly see the flashing indicator bulb when they are travelling opposite to your direction and want to execute a turn across your path.

3) Those idiots who seem to have forgotten what the cell phone use law is as it pertains to driving. Even those supposedly "more intelligent" people in their fancy Range Rovers and BMWs seem to have forgotten about the law.

1- A truck driving in front of your vehicle can't see you in their mirrors if you're too close.
In tight areas they sometimes have to reverse a few feet to make a turn. Keep a few car lengths back.
But generally keep a few car lengths behind a Truck.

2- When stopped at lights, leave room in front to escape ambushes or other dangerous situations.

3- If you're being tailgated and can't switch lanes, don't speed up, gradually slow down.

Using your Indicator it doesn't give you the right of way , switch lanes when its safe to do so ,watch for blind spots ,if you know your turning left/right and turning soon get in you lane way before ,not last minute .

Just a lil while ago encountered a couple jackdonkey drivers, one honking his horn like a maniac behind me while Im waiting to turn onto a major road from a minor, had to tell him pass the f over if he in such a hurry, he then proceeds to overtake me and swing onto the main road with no regard for the oncoming traffic heading both east and west. Those are the arses who you collide with and they go to the station and lie saying they were already out. The other fool rushing and almost colliding with a trailer which is making a wide turn onto a street who did have to reverse to complete his drive.

I need to upload footage to the idiot driver of the day thread

Maybe its just me or....

certain Indicator lights in night looks similar to headlights and its really hard to tell if its on..
Its either they using normal clear halogen bulbs or its fading away.

Might seem simple but keep some distance between you and the car in front. Basic but effective. Also I'm noticing alot of nonsense in the side of the roads (dead animals , barriers , other cars , fires) that could potentially collide or affect your vehicle , id suggest stay in the middle when possible.

1. Just assume you always wrong and you never have the right of way. Doesn't make sense to dead right.

2. Always try to avoid an accident even though the other person is clearly in the wrong. You are not a police and is not your duty to correct other drivers. Always assume everyone has a gun in their car and not afraid to use it.

3. Trinis have no idea how to use a roundabout. So all rules applying to a roundabout is null and void.

-Always use indicators, even when switching lanes on an empty highway

-Always do a shoulder check regardless of how perfect your mirrors adjusted

-The best thing you can do on the road is be decisive and predictable, none of that hesitating nonsense when merging or at an intersection.

How do I signal/indicate that I want to reverse into a particular park. It is one of the toughest things to do

People who brake for the slightest bump on the road and simultaneously don't want you to pass them (or upset when you do overtake them)

If you see while driving six (6) so-called basketball enthusiasts in a Tiida driving slowly through ANY neighborhood day or night run run run .. and call your security .

It's a home invasion search :D

People using shoulder to overtake and cut back in abruptly.
People leaving highway traffic lane to go onto the merging lane to overtake.

This also applies when there's no traffic, some persons just in a hurry.
