So much geo political bad takes here but Nordstream 1 running through Ukraine is one of the bigger ones

More natural gas will flow directly to Germany and potentially bypass other existing pipelines that run through other European countries. Ukraine remained the main transit corridor for Russia's gas export, 80% of Russian gas exports to the European Union were made through Ukrainian territory. Two-thirds of Gazprom's revenue comes from the sale of gas that crosses Ukraine. Nordstream 2 bypasses the Yamal pipeline and the Ukraine System which will deprive Kyiv of lucrative transit fees. Most significantly, Ukraine sees this as a major threat. Russia pays Ukraine approximately $2 billion in transit fees to send gas through its territory.

You still were wrong in saying Nord 1 passes through the Ukraine though.

Sorry Drizzy, my bad.
With the commissioning of Nordstream1 Russia agreed to continue using the existing Yamal pipeline and Ukraine pipeline systems that runs through Ukraine to supply European countries. As the Ukraine is now leaning towards the West, Russia wants cut off the gas supply running through Ukraine. Nordstream2 can handle a larger volume and will make the Ukraine pipeline system redundant Another important fact is that Russia wants to trade their oil and gas in Euros. The US of A is more concern for the hegemony US$. Manufactured Crisis?

The Defense Ministry says Russian Pres. Vladimir Putin will personally oversee Saturday's exercise, which will involve multiple practice launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles and cruise missiles. https://abcn.ws/3I4V9rah

What's with all this flexing of power?

At this point I think the World knows Russia's capabilities and unlike North Korea no demos are needed.

Saudis are resisting US request to increase oil production.
Saudis and Russia have an agreement to not exceed certain output levels

Poor Biden

sheit is hitting the fan, what's telling is Russia's reaction or lack thereof. They still seem committed to this invasion.

Alas, I suspect this is all a huge distraction for when China invades Taiwan. A two front war by Asian giants, while the west does nothing (I assume).

This really could be a precursor to WW3, that is if the west is willing to allow a Russia and China to grow in global influence.

Ukraine just increased their forces by arming and training 130,000 civilian volunteers. Supposedly anyway. Not saying that will be the difference, but hey, at least they aren’t sitting on their hands waiting for someone to save them.
Also, Russia’s size makes it so that they can’t bring all of their forces to one target. They still have to protect the rest of their huge nation from opportunistic attacks from others.

Let the Games begin, time for action, time for talking done.

The longer Russia waits the stronger Ukraine will become. That said, Russia has aerial dominance which makes them hugely favored in this conflict.
