Hmm, I don't think there is any event remaining where we have a favourite for a medal.

There goes our streak of getting at least 1 medal in the past 6 Olympics.

Deeply disappointed with the penalty. Woke up a 2 am to view.

He was and will continue with health and training to be a World Leader in the Match Sprint.

Think the absence of a Senior Cyclist such as N. Phillip could have helped young Paul.

Zoom we look forward.

Philips was the best at placing 4th in London, he was at peak. His time slowly came to end for sprints. He now rides the slightly slower races and still medals on the international circuit.

I remember the last time in 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Ian Morris was our best hope in the 400m and he missed bronze by a hundredth of a second.
All the talk for the next month was how he should've lean and win, how trini eye long so he get distracted by a woman in the crowd, real kicks.

Sprint relays done - Golds to Italy for the men and Jamaica for the women.
Jamaican women have absolutely dominated the short distances (100, 200 and 4x100, 10m hurdles) - 6 medals overall, 3 golds

There is also something at the ground level amongst grassroots that not present here in TT.
The ISSA Easter School meets rams out their National Stadium.
What event sells out our stadiums here apart from CPL?

Jamaica takes track and field extremely serious. Like a way of life dey

Stadium ramming out for jr competitions.

When last a stadium in Trinidad ram out except for a big fete? Nobody care about athletes untill they reach a final. Man hadda throw BBQ to raise funds to fund theyself here

Jamaica have a real special breed of creole too

Bago have the same breed ah creole, so it's the same blood.

Fete is what distroyed Trinidad, every focus is on fete, even in churches you have jump and wave to a white Jesus.

The only people that make money in sports is the Minister followed by the old forgy heads that find a way to siphon the money out from Athletics

We dealing with only 50 percent of our population

Jamaican have 100 percent

So in effect we only dealing with 25 percent of Jamaica

T&T finished a disappointing 8th place. But they said 1 of our runners was injured.

3rd leg runner, St Hillaire I believe seemed to pull up pretty early and that made it impossible to finish anywhere but 8th
Start with instilling pride. and not just financial incentives in the youths. We now have more money, more exposure but our performances have nose dived. In the heydays of WI cricket, it was small money but we couldn't be beat because those guys really cared for the W.I.
Developing athletics needs to be a grassroots effort. You see young talent in Primary/ Secondary school competitions and you place them in a development program that ensures that they at least have a chance. Fund them adequately, none of this sufferer type, BBQ/Cake sale (unless it's a PNM type one) nonsense, because God knows we spend far more on sheit.

Don't think its that. The athletes in Jamaica don't get the financial support through elite athlete programs that TTO's best athletes get. They just have the will. Many of them come from desperate circumstances, poverty that most Trinidadians can't imagine and the GOJ does not have the money to give everybody their wants and needs. 40+ years of intermitent IMF involvement would do that to anyone.

The only results i was surprised by was the 4x4 and Paul. Nicholas Paul got a very unfair judgement as the ROC dude did the same thing to him in the third race without sanction. From the first two legs and how good they were, the lowest TTO should have finished was third, they could have even won it. But to me, St Hillaire is too muscular for a 400m. He looks more like a 100/200m sprinter. I always thought he was the weakest link and I thought that Asa Guevara should have been in the final as he has Championship history. There is lots of work to do before 2024 and its only three years away. I doubt it will get worse than this

Money cannot be flung at every problem, in fact money might be the source of the issues if not accounted for properly (LifeSport) but money strategically used can reap tangible rewards
